Publisher's Summary
"Unless God helps us, there is no hope," Captain Morris yelled over the roar of the storm. Hudson Taylor had to agree. Indeed the Dumfries might sink this very day and he would never live to see the shores of China, a land whose people he was certain God had called him to.
Hudson survived his perilous maiden voyage to his beloved China. With his heart set in determined obedience to God, and trusting the provision of the One who had called him, Hudson overcame persecution and almost overwhelming personal losses to bring God's truth to the "ripe harvest fields" of China. Today, Hudson Taylor's story continues to challenge and inspire believers young and old to carry the anchoring gospel message, regardless of personal trial or hardships, to those who are adrift and without hope. (1832-1905)

Excellently done!
I highly recommend. My 7 yr old son was captivated all the way through! We appreciated how much it brought Hudson Taylor's story to life and down to a level that children can appreciate and understand. Adults will enjoy too!

challenge for any believer.
The book is well written and tells a great story of great faith. the times when those traveling to foreign lands would literally say goodbye to loved ones and lands are all but gone due to technology today, however this offers a challenging view on what is valuable to you as a believer. are you listening to and trusting in God your Father or what everyone else is saying?

A very interesting book
This book is very interesting. The story about how he came to Christ and how he believed he was called to China were well told but the part about his life long missionary work in China was too brief.

And amazing story of God’s faithfulness
We live in a world that has many challenges but the greatest challenge is the challenge every generation. That is the challenge for people to rise up and truly believe God. Hudson Taylor demonstrates to us from his generation that it can be done and that great changes can take place because of it! I challenge all those really want to understand what God can do to read this book. Perhaps in our generation God will again do new and even greater things, because we heard the call and accepts the challenge.

Great testimony
Amazing story, loved the bit when he walked to the shipping office a sick man, been better if narrator hadn't tried to do voices especially Irish accent, but good voice to listen too. Very enjoyable book

Inspiring story
Another excellent book from the series. My only disappointment is that more effort wasn’t made to check pronunciation of British place names. Not the first book in the series to suffer from that problem. A lot of effort was clearly made over Chinese pronunciation. But a small point really compared to such a wonderful story.

Loved it. A quick overview of a great life. I think the series is aimed at younger readers, which is fine. Skips a lot but always very engaging and well paced.

Well written, well read.
Thought provoking and thoroughly enjoyable. The story brings out the very human side of this missionary’s vision and struggle and the very wonderful and miraculous power of Jesus in the life of a wonderful man of God and those who worked with him.
