She tells the tale of her devotion, love, and loyalty to Lakshman, the brother of Prince Ram. Urmila recounts her memories of the day Ram strung the great bow, and she first saw Lakshman. Lakshman and Urmila are my most favourite characters of Ramayan and I always feel that not enough is written about them. This brief insight into Urmila’s psyche was enlightening. What captured my attention most was the thought that even when 14 years had passed since Lakshman left for the exile and so many things happened, for Urmila it was only yesterday that Lakshman had left and came back.
