Publisher's Summary
In a dazzling new novel in the Wherlocke family saga, New York Times best-selling author Hannah Howell creates an unforgettable story of intrigue, jeopardy, and desire.… Stealing a stranger's carriage is the second most reckless thing Lady Catrin Gryffin de Warrene has ever done. The first is succumbing to her powerful attraction to the carriage's owner. Catrin has heard the rumors about Sir Orion Wherlocke's family and their otherworldly gifts. He's the one person who can keep her son and his inheritance safe from her late husband's ruthless brother. As for how to protect herself…it may be too late for that. Orion is facing the worst danger a man of his ilk can find: a woman he can't walk away from. Catrin is an intoxicating blend of innocence and sensuality, and for the first time, seduction is far more than a game. But her beauty and fortune have made her a target - one that will dare him to risk everything he's known - in pursuit of everything he's ever longed for.…

Speeding up the narrator to 1.5x helps!!!
I enjoy these books by H.H. However, I am not a fan of the narrator Ashford MacNab. This story showed the narrator as Polly Lee, so I was excited for a different narrator. But they are the same person. The ONLY way I've been able to make it through stories narrated by her is with a bottle of Excedrin and speeding her up to 1.5x. Unfortunately none of that helps with her Scottish brogue/swedish accent (supposed to be Scottish, sounds like brutalized swedish or making fun of Norwegians) thing she does. It just makes the British accents tolerable. If I didn't love H.H. so much, I wouldn't have found these work arounds.

If He's Daring
This is the sixth of seven books in the Wherlocke series by Hannah Howell. Each story is about a kinsman in the Wherlocke and Vaughn families who seem to have an extra ability to help those around them. In older days they had been burned as witches. Lady Catrin Gryffin de Warrene needs help keeping her son from being taken by his unscrupulous uncle after the death of her husband. While on her way to save her son she encounters Sir Orion Wherlocke and he ends up helping her. He finds out that helping her he has finally met someone he cannot read. Not her of course but the someone who is making it hard for her to get her son back. Along the way secrets from their past come to light. What happens on the journey is the story. The narration was enough that kept me listening to the very end.

An interesting story
An okay, story,. The narrator did a decent job with most of the characters, but her rendition of Orion was disappointing as most of the time his voice was a monotone that reminded of the automated computer generated voices.
