Publisher's Summary

It's the hot topic of the moment. Christians, the church, and the Bible seem to be out of step with modern attitudes towards homosexuality. And there is growing hostility towards those who hold a different view. So is God homophobic? And what do we say, and how do we relate to to both Christians and non-Christians who experience same-sex attraction. In this short, simple book, Sam Allberry wants to help confused Christians understand what God has said about these questions in the scriptures, and offers a positive and liberating way forward through the debate.

A lot of information in a compact book.

I listened to this book via Audible. The author had some very simple yet profound points on Homosexuality and the engagement of as a community. He focuses how this is a sin and not the "great sin". He offers encouragement for those struggling, as he is, and how the church should welcome the gay struggler with a focus on the Gospel and not the person's sexuality.

Precisely and concisely what Christendom needs to hear today

Sam Allberry is the lightning bolt the church needs today to wake up to the reality of how ineffective we have been at connecting the LGBTQ+ community with the Gospel. Our perspectives, attitudes and communication all need to be altered so we are aligned with how Jesus views all of humanity. Not one of us is better or worse than anyone else. We all desperately need a Savior and are called to love our neighbor. Sam communicates this beautifully in the context of human sexuality and identity, with honesty and transparency. Not an easy or popular message to present, but you do it well, Sam.

Excellent

I now have a greater understanding of how God helps each of us to relate to one another. Sam Allberry has shown me how to stand with the word of God, and truly love all. The true apologetics of Sam Allberry book should be our standard.

Very Helpful

Very enlightening and informative. A friendly read that views sin as sin and how important it is for us to love one another through the peaks and valleys in life

Such a helpful resource

Sam Allberry's experience and studied response to this topic is incredibly helpful for Christian's desiring to stand on the biblical truth about sexuality and respond with humility and sensitivity about it. This is a well thought out and loving treatise on the subject.

Powerful

As an “Ex-Gay” otherwise known as Same Sex Attracted individual I LOVE books like these, I’m someone who’s passionate about sharing the Love of God with those who struggle and have been through what I have and the church really doesn’t have a clue on how to handle it. It’s Great to see someone handle it this well. To God be the Glory that we’re saved and set free. Love you all

Very honest and thought provoking

I would recommend this book to any Christian families dealing with homosexuality and same sex attraction. We have read a lot of books and listened to many podcasts on this subject. It is especially good to hear a godly perspective of someone who struggles with this issue yet desires and pursues God's plan for his life.

Excellent and to the Point

It's a short read but full of Biblical truth. As the lines of morality become increasingly gray it is nice to hear some simple truth in an area that is shrouded in a lot of confusion and pain. Sam does a great job of sticking to the facts. I would have liked some more personal stories or experiences in the book since most of the information I have heard before. But for a person who doesn't know what the Bible says about homosexuality this is an excellent and simple read or in my case - listen. I love a good audio book. It allows me to get so much more information crammed in my brain while driving or doing chores.

Balanced, helpful and scriptural

I thought this a very helpful book for a wide range of people interested in same sex issues for various reasons. It is helpful to those like me who have not personally experienced struggles in this area , yet feel a concern and gospel responsibility towards those for whom it is a real struggle . It is also helpful for christians and church pastoral staff to enable them to reach out and face up to the need to be open, humble and biblical to those who struggle and long to be able to open up and face the real issues compassionately and biblically.

A concise articulation of the traditional view

Albery himself is same sex attraction and is empathetic in his approach. This is a good short statement of the classic Christian position. Perhaps it would be useful if he pointed to further resources for those who wanted to look into the exegesis of the scriptures in more detail. Nevertheless, lots of good insights.
It would be better if audible could add chapter titles rather than just chp 1, chp 2... they should be:
1 Introduction
2 Getting started: the Bible, marriage, sex
3 The Bible and homosexuality
4 Homosexuality and the Christian
5 Homosexuality and the church
6 Homosexuality and the world
7 Conclusion

I didnt know what to expect

It's a topic I've always tried to be neutral on, because I didn't know how to approach it. In a modern world where diplomacy is the name of the game, Allberry gives an insightful, well thought and actually helpful view on a subject that is relevant to so many.
