Publisher's Summary

Just Eat It isn’t just an audiobook. It’s part of a movement to give women power and control over our bodies. To free us from restrictive dieting, disordered eating and punishing exercise. To reject the guilt and anxiety associated with eating and, ultimately, to help us feel good about ourselves.

This anti-diet guide from registered nutritionist Laura Thomas PhD can help you sort out your attitude to food and ditch punishing exercise routines. As a qualified practitioner of Intuitive Eating - a method that helps followers tune in to innate hunger and fullness cues - Thomas gives you the freedom to enjoy food on your own terms.

There are no rules: only simple, practical tools and exercises including mindfulness techniques to help you recognise physiological and emotional hunger, sample conversations with friends and colleagues, and magazine and blog critiques that call out diet culture.

So, have you ever been on a diet? Spent time worrying that you looked fat when you could have been doing something useful? Compared the size of your waistline to someone else's? Felt guilt, actual guilt, about the serious crime of...eating a doughnut? You're not alone. Just Eat It gives you everything you need to develop a more trusting, healthy relationship with food and your body.

The audiobook of Just Eat It includes four bonus podcast episodes featuring the author, Laura Thomas PhD, RNutr, and a contributor per episode including Sofie Hagen, Natalie Lee (of StyleMeSunday), Tally Rye and Clemmie Telford.

Life changing book. Thank you Laura!

This book has genuinely given me such a better perspective on why we need to change how we’re thinking about food, body weight. Etc. I went on my first diet when I was 8 years old and have been on one since. I am now 26 and vowed to never. Diet. Again. Yassss!!!!!!

Really recommend

Having just been diagnosed with T2 diabetes I've been bombarded with unsolicited diet and wellness advice. Carbs are now apparently my kryptonite &I can reverse the T2 drinking gallons of bone broth. Ugh. Laura's book cuts thru the bollox and really helps trust back into your body.

Must Read.

I really love Laura Thomas' Instagram page so knew I would love this book. My only tiny issue, as with most BoPo books, is the lack of disability representation, though Laura does cover this a lot more than I've ever seen before which is a step in the right direction.

Great bonus podcast episodes too!

A must read for anyone looking to change their thinking around food

Amazing book that resonated so much of a lifetime of dieting bull! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to change their relationship with food. Additional podcasts at the end were also fantastic.

Loved the audiobook

When I was younger, I thought I had real issues with my body but the real problems were in my head. In reality I was hitting the gym six times a week and was in great shape but I had convinced myself that I was overweight, which resulted in some really bad diet and exercise decisions that led me to permanently damaging my back.

If only the younger me had read this book, which offers level headed, positive dietary advice but more importantly helps you appreciate that you can do your body some good, without constantly criticising it or doing it harm by excess.

As an avid listener of the podcast it was great to hear Laura narrate this audiobook with the care and attention that we all love her for!

Just what I've been waiting for

I have been eagerly awaiting this book since Laura announced it and purchased both a print copy and an audio book. Obviously as it was the release date today I haven't made it through the whole thing yet but I received my print copy a few days early and after looking through the 400+ pages, reading sections and today listening to a good chunk of the audio book I am already very impressed. The book is packed with valuable information and appears to be set out very well, the information is accessible and Laura's delivery of the audiobook seems to be brilliant (no surprise to those who listen to her podcast). I can't wait to work my way through the whole book and firmly believe that it will be a game changer for so many people. Thank you Laura!

Interesting and challenged my thinking

Laura comes across as very authentic and with lots of integrity. She is compassionate and understanding whilst also encouraging the reader to re-examine how they are thinking and what they are doing. I decided not to opt for intuitive eating at this time, but still found lots of benefit in the book - her focus on the reader’s choice is one of the many strengths of this book.

A book that has it's place

The best part of this book was the poscast with Tally Rye at the end, informative and intresting. one other chapter on nutrition and macros was intresting. Personally I did not take action on the journaling or diary as the author suggested, I just didnt feel the need. maybe this book isn't just for me and my headspace.

This book has helped reduce my evening sugar binge

So I liked this book because it really helped me unpack a lot of the reasons why I might be pigging out in the evening. It made me realise how much I am restricting myself, something I was not aware of previously. It has changed my eating habits, I’m not sure if they are for the better yet as I’m definitely enjoying a lot of the treat foods I had limited before. But also I am taking the time to cook balanced healthy meals a lot too so I guess it’s working. I didn’t give 5 stars because I

Absolutely Life changing!

Thank you so much for writing your book. For years I’ve been restricting & binging. Punishing myself for not being able to stick to a diet, berating myself for failing to stick to my low carb, no sugar, no dairy, no fun existence and being OBSESSED with food/body image which has captivated every waking moment. Thank you for making me feel normal and inviting my body to make the decisions - it’s honestly life changing. Your book is lighthearted and beautifully written. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Unnatural

It doesn’t feel natural for her to swear so it made me feel uncomfortable listening to it.

I’m sure there is good intent behind what she is saying and I was onboard with some of it but in general she just sounds angry.

I gave it until about half way through and then decided I wasn’t getting much from it and stopped listening.

Blown away

Whether you are new to Intuative Eating or an old hand there is plenty of goodness in here. I was gobsmacked to learn of the average amount spent per dollar in some of the big weight loss companies. Thankyou Laura for an incredible book!

Incredibly honest

I have to admit that I haven't finished this book yet. In fact, when I bought it I was pretty sure that I would probably end up exchanging it for something else, most likely a book about Keto or Intermittent Fasting since they are the latest diets that guarantee rapid weight loss without pain or denial.
The thing is, I have tried all of the latest diets, pretty much from the time I was 18. When I started trying different diets I was not actually overweight, I just felt compelled to be thinner than I was because I wanted to look like the stick figures that I was seeing on the TV and in magazines. Now, here I am, 40 years later and still rolling from one diet to another.
Today, however, I started listening to this book. It is not wishy washy, it does not promise anything, it is just downright honest. Food is not the problem.

I cringed every time the f word was mentioned

Good information that was backed by evidence. I got to the podcast and couldn’t listen to it any further because I was completely over the swearing by that point
