About this listen

Experience King Lear as a powerful full-cast drama with entertaining and enlightening commentary that explains what's what and who's who as the plot unfolds.

To help you get the most out of Shakespeare, the narrator offers historical insights and background information, so you can enjoy the jokes, appreciate the references, and get a real sense of Shakespeare's world. The unabridged drama is also presented without commentary.

If school turned you off Shakespeare, find out what you've been missing all these years with this beautifully crafted audio presentation.

If you're someone who loves reading but hates doing detailed research after finishing a text, here's your solution. this audiobook comes in two parts- one is the play interspersed with explanation, and the other is the seamless performance. Choose what you like, but it is honestly a very helpful addition when trying to understand those peculiar terms and phrases of Elizabethan England. And the lady who gives the commentary isn't exactly a grating voice. In fact, she's a pleasant addition to the well-enunciated dramatisation. Go for it if you want to take a deep dive into Shakespeare.

This is a very polarising adaptation, it seems.
