About this listen

Kurukshetra is the third book in Krishna Udayasankar's epic mythological fantasy series, The Aryavarta Chronicles.

The Aryavarta Empire stands on the brink of destruction. Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa and the Secret Keeper of the Firewrights can do no more than watch as their kin destroy one another on the fields of Kurukshetra. Those very humans who once protected the land have become savages, killing and maiming their own people with abandon.

Right in the midst of the torrent stands Govinda Shauri. He has been driven to madness by betrayal and failure, and he has become the greatest enemy that Aryavarta must face. In this climactic end to the series, he will stop at nothing to destroy everything he loves and unleash his might in the belief that humanity will once again rise from the ashes.

Great, heart-wrenching and depressing story, but I wasn't really expecting anything else from a realistic version of the Mahabharata. It's a great audiobook, great story, and I went into a mini-depression towards the end. One complaint though - I think Suyodhan is made out to be a lot better and Dharma a lot worse than I expected (I knew there were greys, but Dharma is portrayed as an a*****e), that's it.

Heart-wrenching but great

As the series based on "Mahabharata" so events are fixed but how that event had occurred and how it played was amazing, play with characters names and relations between characters are nice.
During war scene I got emotional at 3 perticular point where I was on edge of crying.
still in some places story needed more descriptions but was leaved on imagination which I find lacking in story.

Whole series as single story is great.

Also narration is as good as story.

Amazing story & world building.
