Publisher's Summary
Best-selling author Mark Manson brings his signature no-nonsense wisdom back to the subject he started his career covering: relationships. Being with your partner may feel like rainbows and unicorns, but that doesn't mean you have a healthy, functioning relationship. Sure, we all need love...but love is not enough.
In Love Is Not Enough, Mark’s first Audible Original, you’ll follow five real people over the course of six months as they navigate f--ked up romantic situations, ranging from dating app addiction to marital affairs to absurd fantasies. At regular intervals, they check in with Mark, share their stories, and soak up some advice. As you listen to these candid, funny, and moving conversations, you’ll learn how to stand up for yourself when you feel the most vulnerable. You'll learn how our imaginations derail intimacy, how our deepest desires can lead us into trouble. You'll learn how to open yourself up, and you'll develop the courage to say and hear that necessary word, "no." You'll learn how to love. And you'll learn that love is not enough.

Yes, love is not enough
Definitely worth a listen. The whole audio book is similar to a conversation or an interview with various people whose problems are solved. Everyone has some proportion of those similar problems that needs to be resolved. This audio book dissects them and offers a solution through interaction with participants in the studio book. The author explains timeless principles of boundaries relevant not just for western world but for eastern world also.

the narration was good but the lessons in the book were quite vague. I was expecting a no nonsense take on life and love.

Eerily relevant and bang on!!
Firstly, I must thank Mark for coming up with this unique dialogue format for Audible(or vice versa...not sure though) which augments the style of storytelling being tried in this book. The highlight for me has been Mark's ability to bring out the subtle yet profoundly impactful relationship imperatives in a "Hey...wanna grab a coffee" kind of way which is not only impressive but very relatable. Every character in the book has something to offer and they do that in their own human ways which made me reflect on my own life on many occasions. I can say with confidence that the book will definitely offer you a different perspective about relationships at the very least and to me understanding different perspectives is a step towards growth and embracing reality. So, this book is highly recommended folks!!

Mark Manson laughs at animal abuse
In this book, Mark Manson laughs at animal abuse. I can get past him providing relationship guidance to a woman in a long term relationship with a married man in the context it is provided. What I can not get past, is Mark laughing at a woman having sex with her dog. Sex with an animal is abuse. What it is not, is funny. It is a felony in many states, as it should be in all of them.
Shame on Mark Manson. Shame on Audible.
Please do not spend your money on this book.

Upsetting and disappointing
Mark chose 5 cases out of thousands of relationship issues, and guess what he chose? He is actually counseling one woman on how to have a better relationship with her married affair partner of 3 yrs! I was appalled! Is that so common is his professional experience that he thinks the rest of us want to know how to have better relationships with our affair partners! I am still upset from reading and just returned the book

Not Mark’s best work
I love Mark Manson’s books but this one wasn’t his best. It was hard getting through this one. This book just consists of a bunch of therapy sessions between him and people struggle with relationships. It’s pain listening to the clients when they talk. I tried picking things out that I could relate to but the presentation of the information was the issue.

This should be a podcast
This is really a podcast type listen. Ok to listen if you're bored but skip if you're looking for a more substantial read/listen. I'm not sure why it's rated so high.

Such an unpleasant book
Must be use the F word in every sentence? Do people actually talk this way? I don't want to be mean but most of the people he speaks to in the book are stuck in patterns of behavior that I don't believe they have any intention of changing. This is such a depressing book.

Keep doing what you're doing!!
I have been an avid Mason reader for a while now. Looking forward to the Will Smith book buddy... I know you're going to kill it!! He always keeps me engaged with the stories, philosophies, and ideas of how to look at things in a different perspective and that is something that is cherished and that is valuable to me. This new project "Love Is Not Enough" is something everybody should take a look at. People sometimes get stuck in these modes of thinking that end up hindering their ability to live fully and happy ("The chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken"). So thank you Mark for inspiring me to be a better me. If I happen to see you in a bar someday... drinks are on me! Cheers!

Helpful to hear the pitfalls of other people
Sometimes it is hard to self reflect on ways we may come up messy in a relationship, or the ways that we self sabotage from the one thing we want: to feel loved and accepted. Listening to the struggle of other's can help, as you can reflect on your experiences and see where you too may have fallen in a similar mind trap, all in the name of protecting yourself. The book is fun to listen to, though I felt the stories were very extreme and it was hard to relate to the people he interviewed. I was hoping to hear a story from a less dramatic person but I guess it is those stories that our media loves to highlight. Mark Mason has a very nonjudgmental approach to how he sits and listens, though he is assessing things, but still I appreciate how he narrates and engages with each person. It is a good listen.

Overhyped
I decided to give this a go based on an article I found on the Guardian. Found it obvious, cliched, in your face and even unnatural/forced/faked. Esther Perel's podcasts are infinitely better and more worth anyone's time than this. Disappointing overall.

The Best Relationship Advice Ever
Mark Manson offers a sober look at how healthy relationships really look like. Personally, it helped me navigate common relationship problems. Listeners will know where they screwed up in their relationships.

Upbeat American relationship podcast
Like Sarah Knight, Mark Manson is best known for his self help books with profanity spewn titles that have become best sellers in recent years. Mark specialises in relationship advice and he has an analytical but friendly approach to subjects such as boundaries, comparability and, of course, love. Trent Reznor famously sang "Love is Not Enough" on industrial rock band Nine Inch Nail's 2005 album "With Teeth" and Mark Manson takes this theme in the book. This is more of a podcast than his other works and he interviews a series of upbeat and open Americans about their relationship issues and unpicks their problems and offers his advice as to what they are doing wrong. The participants in this book all seem like real people and were selected from around 500 people who contacted the author. It all seems fairly straightforward when you break it down to constituent parts of what makes a good relationship; respect being top of the list. At the end of the day we are all looking for "All of the Love in the World", we do not want "Every Day Exactly the Same" and it ids best if we do not bite "The Hand that Feeds" or we will enter a "Downward Spiral", become a "Pretty Hate Machine" and end up "Broken".

five people & an author
I'd initially baulked at the length of time that this audible book is, but once I got into it, I couldn't get enough.
The individuals involved are are open and honest about their relationship challenges and Mark is very candid & considered in how he approaches each one on their own merits but manages to clarify what the fundamental issues are that link them all together - well worth a listen and investment in time, if you're in need of more than just love.

First world problems
While intention may have been educational, the result is 8 hours of white people complaining about first world white problems (except for one girl). It was hard to feel any empathy towards the people interviewed in this audiobook because they came off as petty and self obsessed. Mark does not provide any valuable insights but merely pander to each interviewee’s self inflicted dramas. I did not learn anything from this audiobook and was glad when it was over. Thank God it was free.

Agony Aunt story.. that is about it..
Honestly it really is not that good, it just lacks real substance, It comes across as feeling like a glorified Agony Aunt, having read a book by an American Psychotherapist this is tame stuff it lacks depth and I mean genuine real depth of life experience. His put down of John Lennon is I suspect for shock value and that's tacky. This book smacks of something ill but I just can't put my finger on it.

Engaging & relevant but not too heavy.
The topics covered in these sessions were really great. Personally I would have liked a more in-depth look into the some of the root causes for the unhealthy behaviors and coping mechanisms.. but I realise that was not really the purpose of this. Overall it was a great listen, packed with wisdom, insight and humor.

In-depth analysis and insight into relationships
It was very interesting. I loved seeing how Mark approaches 1-on-1 'coaching' after reading his books and articles for the masses. He has a great knack for really understanding what someone's problem is on a deep level and what the cause may be. I did want to keep listening to see how the individuals would get on and what advice Mark would offer. That said, I wasn't in love with the audiobook. Although this may be unfair, I can't quite put my finger on what I didn't like. Overall I thought it was great and the audiobook played out exactly as I expected it to. I wasn't misled or disappointed. I thought the project was great and I'm really happy that this could help a lot of people. I think personally, in terms of how I individually react to audiobooks of this nature and about this topic, I would give this a 4 but in terms of execution of the project as a whole, it would be a 5. Thank you Mark and everyone involved!
