Publisher's Summary

Detective Atticus Ware gave up Idaho to start again in the California mountains, close to his imprisoned brother. Although he's found good friends, the experienced Dominant wants more than the "do me" submissives flocking around him. He needs a woman to give her heart, as well as her body.

After Virginia Cunningham exhausts herself propping up a failing relationship, she accepts a social worker job far, far away in a California prison. Invited to observe BDSM classes on a wilderness camping trip, she's shocked - her fiancé had insisted BDSM was a fabrication to sell books. But when Atticus lures her into participating, she learns submission under the hands of a powerful Dom is beyond anything she'd imagined. Nonetheless, she can't permit a relationship - she'd just lose herself again.

Finally, Atticus has found the woman he wants in his life. In his bed. In his cuffs. Only she keeps backing away. Well...if he has to help a little counselor get her head on straight, he's just the Dom for the job.

Narrator killed the story

This book was pretty decent. Not Cherise’s best work but still pretty good if it weren’t for the horrible narrator. Sorry, Paul. Romance and southern accents aren’t your thing.

Good story terrible narrator

I have all of Cherise Sinclair's audio books. I truly enjoy the stories with their mature themes. This one was very difficult to listen to because the narrator was so bad. It is the first book I have listened to of his and I will strive to avoid listening to any others. His cadence and badly timed phrasing was distracting.

Terrible Narrator

I absolutely love all of Cherise Sinclair's books, especially in audiobook format, but this one is just awful. The narrator pauses at odd moments and reads in a bland voice. He also completely butchers, in my opinion, the name of an important character. Save yourself a book credit and skip this one on audio.

Enjoyable story

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I wonder if I will ever read or listen to a romance in which one or the other of the featured couple doesn't resist the relationship. Some might think it would be boring, but I'm not so sure. It would be a novelty, for one thing and the story could focus on the beauty of the developing relationship. Maybe it could give the real world some instruction on how it should be done. just a thought.

The narration was pretty aweful. The narrator's attempt at women's voices was painful to listen to and his "Dom" voice sounded more demonic than dom.

I might have waited for this to go on sale or perhaps, stuck to the written form, had I known the narrator's work.

Love

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't have any emotion as he read the book. A couple of times I started to fall asleep.

Any additional comments?

I love the author and the story line of this book but the person that read it left A LOT to be desired.

Still love the story but not the reading of it

Any additional comments?

I didn't truly enjoy the narrator's reading of this story. He didn't sound like a dom at all and it was truly bothersome with the misspeaking of his liege's name as Javier and not Xavier. Still enjoyed the story but won't be listening to it as often as other of the books in the series by this author.

Performance was awful

After listening to several other books by Cherise Sinclair that were read by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross, this was a total let down. In other books I have heard Kai Kennicott put voice to Jen and it was wonderful. Paul Boehmer was like nails on a chalkboard.

Who wrote this book?

I've been on a Cherise Sinclair binge recently, reading and listening to books that I already had and a few new ones. I was thrilled to find one in my library that I hadn't finished. I couldn't remember starting the book and the last bookmark was a little less than 2 hours in. I started over.

It was a mistake, I can't believe Ms Sinclair wrote this book. 3 chapters in and I had to give up. "Gin" the submissive is pathetic: she lacks confidence, self-respect and instantly melts with a look from Atticus the Dom. Atticus, an experienced Dom, who is a police officer and a BDSM teacher is instantly attracted by Gin, the inexperienced submissive. He immediately proceeds to introduce her to D/S relationships by intimidating her, scening with her without explaining what would happen, establishing limits or safewords, He did it again, promising to leave her clothes on and that if she said "no" it would all end,...he lied. Atticus then froze her out, jumping to an irrational conclusion about who she was based on partial information. I hope he's a better detective than he is a Dom, or a man, or a friend, or a brother.

Such a disappointment, no doubt the misunderstandings will get sorted out later and Gin will find her way and stop acting like a mouse but I don't care anymore.

Cherise Sinclair is a great author but this one is a stinker!

Not Sure What Happened Here for Me

Hmmm, not sure why this one didn’t spark my interest as I usually love everything Ms. Sinclair writes. I hope I’m not changing.

Loved it!!!

This was the first time I had heard this audio book and I have never read the story either. To hear it brought to life by Paul Boehmer was brilliant his story telling was captivating. Cherise Sinclair always writes the most amazing stories and characters this book was no exception. Listening to Cherise's stories has become one of my favourite hobbies.

Couldn't finish

Unfortunately this is my least favorite Cherise Sinclair book. It started out not so bad but then I found that it jumped from scene to scene without a lead in. I'm an hour from finishing and I can't take the corny dramatics any more. Very OTT and for once, too long. The different narrator is a nice change and he suited the characters of the book.
