Mean Streak: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

From #1 The New York Times best-selling author Sandra Brown comes a heart-pounding story of survival, that takes the age-old question, "Does the end justify the means?" and turns it on its head.

Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her.

While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce", Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name. She's determined to escape him and willing to take any risks necessary to survive.

Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can't turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law. Wrong becomes right at the hands of the man who strikes fear but also sparks passion.

As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer from those who wish her dead - and from heartbreak.

Combining the nail-biting suspense and potent storytelling that has made Sandra Brown one of the world's best loved authors, Mean Streak is a wildly compelling novel about love, deceit, and the choices we must make in order to survive.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Intriguing

I almost skipped over this because of the reviews, but glad I didn't. I find the music complimented the story very well. Audiobooks usually put me to sleep, but the music kept me engaged. I only wish it was a bit more audible. Sometimes it was little hard to hear, wishing I could turn it up a little.

Narrator was great, music was not

I really enjoyed the voice of the narrator. However, this is the first book (of many that I have listened to from Audible) that also plays music intermittently throughout the story. There were many times that the music was louder than the narrator and others where the tempo of the music did not coincide with the storyline (soft music during an action scene, loud during a conversation, etc.) I hope this is just an isolated case because I really love listening to books on audio.

Background music

Really liked listening to this. The only downside that I found was that some of the background music to amplify the scene was almost louder than the narrator. Could have done without the music entirely or just make sure it is a very low background noise if readjusting the recording.

Couldn't finish BookTalk is not for me.

Story was good up until the point I had to give up. The music was off putting, louder than the narration in places and completely out of time at times. I'll get the book without BookTrack when I find it.

Awful Background Music

Distracted by background music which was at times not even adapted to the scene. I think this let the story down.

why?

I read this book years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm a huge Sandra Brown fan, so wanted it as an audiobook.

I couldn't finish it because of the layer of background music throughout. It's an interesting idea to play music, but it shouldn't compete with the narrator or distract from the story. Hopefully there is a version of this audiobook without music.

Sadly I couldn't finish it (and I really like this story!).

Terrible music

The book was ok, pretty ordinary and predictable which is what you come to Sandra Brown for but the music absolutely destroyed the narration for me. Don’t bother.
