About this listen

Minimalism is the thing that gets us past the things that clutter our lives so we can make room for life's most important things - which actually aren't things at all.

At age 30, best friends Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus walked away from their six-figure corporate careers, jettisoned most of their material possessions, and started focusing on what's truly important. In their debut book, Joshua and Ryan, authors of the popular website TheMinimalists.com, explore their troubled pasts and descent into depression. Though they had achieved the American Dream, they worked ridiculous hours, wastefully spent money, and lived paycheck to paycheck. Instead of discovering their passions, they pacified themselves with ephemeral indulgences, which only led to more debt, depression, and discontent.

After a pair of life-changing events, Joshua and Ryan discovered minimalism, allowing them to eliminate their excess material things so they could focus on life's most important things: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.

the journey towards minimalist lifestyle

The first interaction I’d with this concept of Minimalism was when I saw the Netflix documentary. I was blown away with this concept that how a person can live his life happily even when he has basic materialistic things. I’ve myself followed this concept since many years but never knew that there existed a term for it – “Minimalism”.

When I noticed this book in Audible, the first thing I did from my credit was to buy it. This book speaks about the art of living form called – Minimalism. How to live happily by letting go all the unnecessary stuff! The two authors had a good six figure salary when they decided to quit their typical 9-5 job and look for what became an art form for living. The best part of this book is its small concepts and light is shades on topics like internal peace, relationships, eating habits, etc.

I’m really looking to explore their website www.theminimalists.com and also will be getting their others book to read as well.

The book overall is really noteworthy to be praised. However two of these chapters stood out the most for me and I got exactly what I needed to identify my anchors and relationship cues in life to work on. The narrator was really impressive with his narration. It never felt monotonous with his voice and value he added to the book. I enjoyed this book from audible and would happily recommend anyone looking forward to some meaningful piece of advice to advance in all parts of their lives.

The chapters about relationships and expenses
