About this listen

Born into the factious world of war-torn Arabia, Muhammad's life is a gripping and inspiring story of one man's tireless fight for unity and peace. In a world where greed and injustice ruled, Muhammad created change by affecting hearts and minds. Just as the story of Jesus embodies the message of Christianity, Muhammad's life reveals the core of Islam. Deepak Chopra shares the life of Muhammad as never before, putting his teachings in a new light.

An accompanying PDF file chronicles Muhammad's life and genealogy.

“[O]ne of the most imaginative and touching biographies of Muhammad….Chopra’s grasp of Muhammad’s life and mission extends his range in a surprising direction; his popularization is welcome.” ( Publishers Weekly)
“Compellingly told, this is not only good storytelling, it also helps readers, especially non-Muslims, better understand the complexities and contradictions surrounding Islam.” ( Booklist)

Being a Muslim, I did have my apprehensions...but to my surprise the author has used a lot of sources from Muslim seerah authors instead of just orientalists...we may not agree with it entirely but amongst thousands of biographies on the Prophet (peace be upon him) available...this brings in a different perspective....

Sincere Effort with a different perspective...

Deepak Chopra, has articulated extremely well in easy words the connection between the Christianity, The Judaism and the contemporary need as well as formation of Islam. A side view of the Prophet's life from His contemporaries and associates as well as geo-politics of the time are finely interwoven. Author has lucidly articulated, without hurting the sentiments of the followers, the human side through His faults, weaknesses and certain decisions that sound unjustified today. the book appropriately puts him as the man among men. Deepak's baritone voice adds to the charm of the story. a book worth reading/listening any time.

A side view to Prophet's life worth a read/listen

The sequence of book is somewhat not properly arranged. Summary is good.Lesley Hazelton book on Muhammad is more interesting.

Overall ok

After listening, Prophet Muhammad became alive for me. I liked hearing his story told by an Indian and knew his respect to be genuine. the story was gripping and I realised that being a novel, the author's creativity was a driving force for the breathtaking quality which emerges. I highly recommend listening to this awesome recitation!
