About this listen

In one of the most acclaimed novels of recent years, Kazuo Ishiguro imagines the lives of a group of students growing up in a darkly skewed version of contemporary England.

Narrated by Kathy, now 31, Never Let Me Go dramatizes her attempts to come to terms with her childhood at the seemingly idyllic Hailsham School and with the fate that has always awaited her and her closest friends in the wider world. A story of love, friendship, and memory, Never Let Me Go is charged throughout with a sense of the fragility of life.

This was non-unlistenable! Such a beautiful book with such beautifully etched characters and so beautifully read. One of the best audiobooks!

Emotional and fulfilling

A touching story of how clones were reared. They were brought up with a sense of (unknown) purpose at Haylshm. They do have souls but the sense of purpose kept them detached from life. They just moved from the rearing ground to the slaughterhouse and just 'complete' what is expected of them.

touching

Captures emotional tussle well. Unfolding of events captured beautifully. The pathos of main characters is extremely touching.

Sublime....

Not a great fan of dystopian but this one was half decent. Set in an imaginary world, about almost a century ago, the story sheds light on a lot of morals, ethical values we need to have as a race, through this world and their characters. This theme, although not very obvious in the story telling, was what fascinated me, though I did not really care much for the writing (surprising coz I have really high standards for Kazuo Ishiguro), there were times I wished the book did not sound as if written from the pov of a teenager.

not great but has potential

I don't read many books but I really liked this one. it's also not a kind of book to be read again but it will leave a deep impact.

A must read
