About this listen
Veronica Cruz has been through hell and back. After disconnecting with the world two years ago to be at the side of her dying mother, she's left alone, unemployed, overweight, and feeling a decade older than her 28 years. When her best friend coaxes her into joining the local gym to ditch her depression and rejuvenate her life, she meets Noah. Assigned to help Veronica lose weight, Noah is everything she expected a young trainer to be - perfectly chiseled, supportive, and motivating. Add to that, he's incredibly sexy. He's everything she's ever looked for in a man. What she least expected was for him to fall for her, but he has. There's just one glaring problem: Noah is eight years younger.
Noah Quintanilla has his eye on a boxing title - someday. Down for a few months with an injury, his maintenance boy pay at 5th Street Gym won't cut it. He's finally given the opportunity to train. The catch? His trainee is an out-of-shape woman with a free week pass. Taking on the challenge, Noah stumbles into one of the closest friendships he's ever known, and before he knows it, he's in love. But Veronica's not having it - the age difference is too much. Their platonic relationship means having to watch her date other men - something that would make him crazy. Believing he's the man for her, Noah sets out to prove that age is but an illusion and that there's more to him than just a number.

The narration of this audiobook was truly amazing. As an Indian, I sometimes find it challenging to listen to American and European accents, but the narrator of this book did an exceptional job. She was able to voice the characters, including the male characters, in a way that perfectly matched their personalities.
The storytelling was absolutely captivating, and the characters were written in such a way that I could emotionally connect with them and experience a range of emotions, including happiness, laughter, frustration, and anger. Noah's friends, like Geo, Abel, and Hector, were incredibly supportive of him, while characters like Darake, who was Veronica's ex, were truly irritating. Towards the end of the book, I felt a surge of anger and frustration towards Darake, despite knowing that these were fictional characters. The story was exceptionally well-written, and I cannot express in words how perfect it was. I was hooked from the very beginning.
The book provides the point of view of both characters, showing what they feel about each other. It explores the challenges that can arise when an older woman and a younger man fall for each other, but it ultimately proves that age is just a number. The audiobook adaptation was flawless, with no noticeable cuts or changes from the original book. In fact, I found it even more enjoyable due to the amazing narration.
The length of the audiobook, at 9 hours, was just perfect for me. It was neither too short nor too long. The pacing was mostly medium to fast, although some readers may find it slow due to the strong character development in the book. However, the last 2 hours of the book were incredibly fast-paced and highly interesting. I was hooked and lost track of time, as 2 hours felt like only 20 minutes because of the thrilling and captivating ending. The pace and interest that were built towards the end were truly marvelous.
The genre of this book is romance, specifically exploring the relationship between an older woman and a younger man, and it exceeded my expectations. Personally, I found it highly enjoyable and relatable, particularly the ending, which was truly amazing. I felt deeply connected to the characters and felt like I was living in their world. The impact of the book on me was significant, as it was relatable, and I could see myself in the character of Noah. Although I haven't read many books yet, I would say that this is the best one I have ever read.
In conclusion, "Noah: 5th Street, Book 1" by Elizabeth Reyes is an exceptionally well-written and captivating audiobook. The narration, storytelling, character development, pacing, and genre all come together to create an unforgettable experience. It is a relatable and enjoyable read that left a significant impact on me. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves romance novels or wants to explore the complexities of relationships between older women and younger men.
