About this listen

** Listen to the modern classic behind the Bafta-winning series. **

'The literary phenomenon of the decade.'
Guardian
'A Tube stop-missing, escalator-reading tale.' Evening Standard

Connell and Marianne grow up in the same small town in the west of Ireland, but the similarities end there. In school, Connell is popular and well-liked, while Marianne is a loner. But when the two strike up a conversation - awkward but electrifying - something life-changing begins.

Normal People is a story of mutual fascination, friendship and love. It takes us from that first conversation to the years beyond, in the company of two people who try to stay apart but find they can't.

'Tender and devastating.' Guardian
'A book to cancel plans for.' Grazia

there is nothing like a good love story where two people not exactly believing in romantic love ended up building a relationship that was above themselves.. A heartwarming tale of love, getting past childhood trauma, and above all letting things go...

deep, easyread, feelgood

The writing feels a bit shallow in the beginning, the setting not quite fleshed out, a lot is left to imagination. But I liked the unusual flow of the story, skipping events and jumping right into conversations. The characters are deeply flawed and leave you unsettled. Overall, it was a very different read from what I’m used to, so I liked it.

An imperfect story about imperfect people

I had read plenty of reviews before purchasing this title. I was also reading Murakami's Norwegian wood at the same time.. both the stories did have some similarities.. mental health awareness.. it's a decent read. Is it must read.. may be not! Great narration!

Decent read

Lovely novel, isn't it. Its more about Marianne, her quest to live a life of "Normal People". She endured a lot, really a lot. Connell, too, evolved during the novel. From a brash teenager to a writer with some prospects.
English used is very down to earth by Sally, that's why it connects you more. Special thanks to Sally for this. It looks easy but writing in easy language is not easy.
Special thank to Aoife for such wonderful narration, it was equally easy as the language.

Thanks Audible.

Sometimes its really fortunate to be "Normal People"
