Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Graham Russell and I weren't made for one another. I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed. Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other's secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Wow!! Wonderful Book
Jocelyn Butler is a very complicated character. She has put up such a fierce wall to surround the hurts of her past; it's almost impossible that anyone could get past the barriers. There were times when I wanted to scold her, wring her neck, shake my finger at her, comfort her, and just be the friend she didn't want. Her character is written with depth and extreme emotion. When Braden Carmichael enters her life she is not looking for a man, or a relationship with one beyond the most superficial friendship. It's very interesting how Braden manages to worm his way into her life; as if he'd taken the time to study her and figure out how to 'crack the nut' that fences her emotions. Braden is a wonderful character and I'd imagine the writer had a blast writing for him. Very slowly; Braden 'gets' to Jocelyn (Joss). It seems to this reader that there were times when he'd advance a step only to be put back two steps. Jocelyn is very emotionally bottled-up but the help of Braden and his family; she begins to unfurl.
It's not an easy romance. Most of it seems to be Jocelyn working through her demons. When the romance comes it's HOT and sweet. Very angsty as well. This is a book that we readers will keep and reread. It sparks our thoughts, dreams, hopes, introspections, and worry that maybe Jocelyn won't make it through the darkness that she finally has to face.
Samantha Young definitely knows how to write a story that will keep her readers captured. I appreciated the depth of emotion and intense detail she put into this story. It has a very good amount of sex that is written not so much erotically, but emotionally. It's graphic, but not over the top or objectionable.
I would recommend this story without reservation but only to those discerning readers who want to really FEEL the story and characters and is willing to follow some fairly tortured paths to happiness. The epilogue: what a nice reward for us readers! Loved it all.
Added note: It was so refreshing to read a book that is ONE BOOK and not a drawn-out serial. Don't get me wrong...I read those as well BUT I get frustrated that the reader has to wait so long for the next book to come out. I've come to the conclusion that it's better to wait until the final book is out in a series and then read the whole thing in order. Having said this.....I hope I can make myself do it. This doesn't include series books that are about a different set of H/h in each book. It's when the book series is one set of H/h. This would never include the books by Marie Force who does the FATAL series. I don't mind reading that series which is about one couple (with LOTS of recurring characters). That series is perfect.
Paula Costello was wonderful with the delivery of the story

I Couldn't Stop listening 2 this FABULICIOUS Story
Any additional comments?
On Dublin Street is not about BDSM, or a dominance and submissive relationship. True, the lead male in the story is very alpha and is used to getting what he wants, but this book is more about how two scarred people yet to fully heal, end up helping each other. This is all about compromise and giving the other person your trust that they will not hurt you. The fact that On Dublin Street is a smart, funny, sexy and tear jerkingly brilliant read, is a major bonus.
Jocelyn Butler, the heroine of the story, had moved from the United States of America to Edinburgh after a series of tragedies befell her. She has learned to build a shield around herself in order to keep others at a distance. Jocelyn is forced to find new accommodation when her friends and former flat mates move down to London. Thus, she ends up moving in with Ellie and the carefully constructed walls begin to crumble as she lets both Ellie and her charismatic brother, Braden, in.
Braden, having met Jocelyn in an unorthodox way, feels an almost instant attraction with the carefully guarded American. He knows how reluctant she is about relationships, he comes up with a novel arrangement. For a month, Jocelyn and Braden will have a relationship where they are friends, with benefits. It seems like the perfect solution to both parties, but as with many things, it all becomes a bit complicated.
This is one of those books that just sucks you into the story, and before you know it you are 150 pages in, it’s half past one in the morning and you are due to get up in a few hours. I became invested in what happened, not only to Jocelyn and Braden, but also with many of the supporting characters. This is a very rare talent, as some authors I have read concentrate on the main players, while making the other characters stereotypical, hovering in the background. You can tell each person has their own story to tell and thankfully there is a novella and a second book, giving us some of the other characters’ own tales...... Paula Costello was the perfect Narrator for this totally addictive story !! :)

A great trip back to Dublin Street
It's been yonky donks since I read On Dublin Street and I forgot how wonderful this story was. Sure, it makes me cry and even get a wee bit cranky but it also makes me wear a goofy grin and sigh with contentment too. Both Jocelyn and Braden have faced their own versions of heartbreak in the past and have put barriers in place to make sure they don't face that sort of pain again. But, like all good love stories, the heart wants what the heart desires so no barrier will stop them coming together.
Paula Costello, the narrator does an amazing job and was brilliantly cast for this narration. Her accents were spot on (I think) and she sounded the right age too, to match Jocelyn's character age.
I loved the characters, the storyline kept me enthralled, the romance, while it had its bumps, still seemed believable, and the narration was very easy to listen to. I highly recommend giving On Dublin Street a try.

Just awesome
Samantha is a talented writer, I can not believe I skipped this book for so long! I enjoyed every single bit- laughed and cried ( first audible to get me to shed a tear- which was akward when I saw sympathetic eyes smile at me from the car next to me... )
All characters were strong and was so well developed, they felt real.
Paula is a brilliant narrator, she caught the essence of each character portraying the story in such a way it felt like a movie playing in my head.
You will not go wrong with this one.

The only issue with this book: Creates unrealistic expectations for men. ;P

Unexpectedly brilliant
First time I have ever given a five star review. This book just seemed to touch all the right notes for me. The narration was excellent with distinct voices for each character that were both masculine and feminine. Both the hero and heroine were likable and yet not too perfect. And there were some seriously funny moments - in particular their first couple of meetings. Neither lead characters were perfect but I found I loved them both and their romance was absorbing. I found the issues with the heroine were realistic and made her a truly damaged soul, but her acknowledgement of this and her efforts to seek help made her all the more real. Her panic attacks and moments of madness were both real and understandable. Even when I did not like what she was doing, I could still understand and emphathise with her - all credit to the author on this! I thought the ending was perfect and tied up all the loose ends in a completely satisfying way. I actually am looking forward to listening to this book again - something that I rarely do.

I can not believe I’ve never heard of Samantha Young before! I downloaded this book on the off chance, had completely forgotten I’d purchased it. Decided to give it a go and WOW! One of the best romance books I’ve listened to in a long while!! The characters are so relatable and likeable, I need a Braden in my life! Fantastic story line, steamy bedroom antics... I give it a 10+ out of 10. Can’t wait to listen to more by SY.

My first Samatha Young Audiobook, but by no means the last!!!!
Seriously one of the best Audiobooks I've listened to ever!!!
When you thought you couldn't love the audiobook more than the ebook.... Boy was I sorely mistaken!!! When you read a book your imagination runs wild with what the characters sound like, and you kinda think you know. But then the audiobook blows you away and takes the characters to a whole new level.
This was my first Samantha Young audiobook but it definitely won't be my last.
I wish I could rate it more than 5 stars.

On Dublin Street
Genre? Fiction - yes. Sub-section - Romance - yes. However, this book should reside in a sub, sub section - Erotica. Very very descriptive explicit sex activity throughout. And is it for the sake of the story? Maybe once or twice , probably, but eventually these episodes get pretty boring.
This audio book is definitely one which should be listened to on earphones.

Recommended for all romance fans!
It's been such a long time since I read "On Dublin Street" but it has always remained one of my favourites, therefore it was a book that I was eager to listen to on audible. I loved listening to Braden and Jocelyn's story. I soon became lost in their world and I listened with every opportunity I had. Paula Costello did a great job as the storyteller, transferring from Scottish to American accents and from a male to female voice with ease. I thought that she portrayed the characters perfectly, especially Jocelyn. Her feisty personality came across so well.
"On Dublin Street" is a beautiful love story that I could revisit again and again. The characters were brilliant and so easy to like. On the outside Jocelyn was a strong, independent woman but deep down she was living with such sadness, choosing to brush all of her issues under the carpet and avoiding any emotional attachments. That was until sexy Braden Carmichael comes along and turned her world upside down.
Listening to this story on audible reminded me of why I have always loved this story so much and, of course I fell in love with Braden all over again. That man is gorgeous and will always have a place in my top book boyfriend list. Whenever my favourite lines were said, I became giddy and my tummy was flip-flopping all over the place. He can make me swoon any day of the week! Lol.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the "On Dublin Street" audiobook and I highly recommend all fans of romance to snap this one up. I'm certain that you won't regret it.

Rubbish story
Rubbish, unbelievable story, over sexed and not much else! Repetitive, sickly. Seriously underwhelming and boring.

Didn't enjoy this book. Weak storyline .
Would you try another book written by Samantha Young or narrated by Paula Costello?
Not by this author
Would you ever listen to anything by Samantha Young again?
No
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
yes
What character would you cut from On Dublin Street?
All of them
Any additional comments?
I did listen til the end in case the story line improved. To much information and graphic description in certain parts which I could have done without. Perhaps younger people would enjoy it.

Enjoyed it very much.
This was a surprise, that I enjoyed this, lots of similarities to fifty shades, I think the detail around Joss's issues was handled very well. I'm sure I will listen to it again as it's interesting how much you pick up a second time round.

Complex love story with so much tension
Loved these characters, Joss can get frustrating because she is so stubborn and Braden is strong without being OTT dominant, but they work. Oh the chemistry!

A Blushing Audio Review
MY THOUGHTS:
It's not an easy romance. However, there’s an emotional connection with the characters you feel almost immediately which is what keeps you intrigued going further into the story.
You cannot help falling in love with Braden, especially if you listen to his accent in the audio version. His witty personality makes for some humorous banter between the pair and acts as a great balance between some of the more serious subject matter.
Joss is a difficult character to connect with as she is so emotionally troubled and detached but given her back story you can certainly empathise with her. She has detached herself from getting too close to people, built walls up to protect herself She learns though that those same walls keep her from having connections, intimacy, hope, joy, and so many other things that make life meaningful.
Braden shows her that she must allow herself to fully feel her pain, open up and talk about it in order to learn how to manage it and begin to heal through it.
“You’re good with the words, I’ll give you that.” Jocelyn
“I’m good with my hands. Will you let me give you that?” Braden
Samantha has a way of capturing a moment, her sex scenes are more emotionally deep then erotic, they are steamy but also suppressed.
I really liked the supporting characters Ellie and Adam, Rhea and would definitely be keen to read more of them. I really enjoyed this book and it’s a first I have read of Samantha Young's. I will definitely be looking into some of her other titles to add to my TBR shelf.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?
Yes, who doesn’t love a hot witty Scotsman.
This is a long audio book but very easy to listen to getting caught up in the Scottish accents. Paula did so well transferring from Scottish to American accents and from a male to female voices with ease. She really captured the essence of each character.
This would have been an amazing book for duet narration with a male narrating Braden’s Scottish accent but I still thoroughly enjoyed it regardless.
