Publisher's Summary
The book that defined the field, updated and expanded for today's organizations.
Organizational Culture and Leadership is the classic reference for managers and students seeking a deeper understanding of the inter-relationship of organizational culture dynamics and leadership. Author Edgar Schein is the 'father' of organizational culture, world-renowned for his expertise and research in the field; in this book, he analyzes and illustrates through cases the abstract concept of culture and shows its importance to the management of organizational change. This new fifth edition shows how culture has become a popular concept leading to a wide variety of research and implementation by various organizations and expands the focus on the role of national cultures in influencing culture dynamics, including some practical concepts for how to deal with international differences.
Special emphasis is given to how the role of leadership varies with the age of the organization from founding, through mid-life to old age as the cultural issues vary at each stage. How culture change is managed at each stage and in different types of organizations is emphasized as a central concern of leader behavior.
This landmark book is considered the defining resource in the field. Drawing on a wide range of research, this fifth edition contains 25 percent new and revised material to provide the most relevant new concepts and perspectives alongside the basic culture model that has helped to define the field.
- Dig into assumptions and typologies to decipher organizational culture
- Learn how culture begins, thrives, or dies with leadership
- Manage cultural change effectively and appropriately
- Understand the leader's role in managing disparate groups
The resurgence of interest in organizational culture has spurred an awakening in research, and new information is continuously coming to light. Outdated practices are being replaced by more effective methods, and the resulting shift affects organizations everywhere. Organizational Culture and Leadership is an essential resource for scholars, consultants and leaders seeking continuous improvement in the face of today's business realities.

Terrible listening experience
I could not go any further than 20min. it stops after almost every sentence to list off the citations for the information that had just been presented. This created a terrible listening experience I just had to stop. It's a potty as the information sounded like it would be good.

Poor book.
The fact that the person reading this book had read every single citation during this book made it very hard to follow along. No other book has ever done that.

Difficult Listen
Every other sentence is interrupted by a list of citations. I couldn't even follow the main point of the passage. By far the worst listening experience I've had with an audio book. The content might have been more useful if not for the format of the voice-over.

Absolutely fantastic. Very informative .
It is an excellent read. I think everyone should have this audible app and have this book on at all phases of their life. This is extremely functional and important material/information for college students, Individual seeking self improvement or Those just trying to improve their working environments. Should listen to frequently as every time I have I've always learned something new. It's like one of those little hidden perspectives that just sneaks up on you and says here I am. Extremely useful. Run with-it! Warning, there are lots of Aha moments.

Content Great, Performance Poor
The material is superb, however it is difficult to listen to the constant recitation of citations. Endnotes rather than footnotes would improve the listening experience.

Why is it reading the in text citations?
it it reads the in-text citations over and over again after every sentence. This is annoying especially for an audiobook. I thought somebody would know that already but I guess not.

Organizational Culture
Generally I enjoy books that help further my business acumen. This book shed light on some concepts that I haven’t considered before. It also put me to sleep more than one time. The material is great but the way it is present is very dry. Chapter are well-connected but the stories within the chapters sometimes get disjointed.

Complete and intriguing
The author does a great job delving into the why and how’s of his business analysis and culture. It is a friendly way of breaking down sociology of groups and responsibilities of leaders for practical application. Some parts were redundant when points were being driven home, but all and all an intriguing read.

Good content, but badly structured
The book contains a rich analysis of company cultures and how to understand and change a company culture. However the way this information delivered is not engaging. Individual examples of cultures are given, which is great, but the days isn't easy to absorb. Perhaps a printed version of the book better serves the purpose.

Long winded
The author takes the long road to deliver the messages. The author could simplify the language and message as half the time you need a dictionary to follow along, making it a difficult listen.
