Such fab stories

I came to the temple series after hearing the Gilbert case on radio4 extra and fell in love with them. Well written cosy little mysteries well played by all of the cast. I'm working my way through all audible have to offer of Paul temple and have been thrilled with everything I've heard. Any mystery which is solved over dry martinis in the sleuth's flat is just perfect.

The characters, the suspense, the atmosphere...I love being swept back in time to days of trains with steam, telephones that ring in the house, unexpected guests...

Who was your favorite character and why?

Paul and Steve ...naturally.

Another great read from the Paul temple series. They are never disappointing.

Paul Temple and the Alex Affair (Dramatised)

If listeners are looking for a sharp complicated plot then this might not be for them. However, I was looking to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane to reminisce about times, as a child, I listened avidly to every instalment of the Paul Temple Mysteries on our Bush radio. Without doubt this introduction to detective novels led to a lifelong love of the genre. Old fashioned certainly, but that is part of their charm for me and I am enjoying them as much now as I did 50+ years ago.

love the plots so many suspects.Paul Temple is an insufferable big head who talks to Steve as if she is an idiot .

Great play

We enjoyed it help me relax before going to sleep. It you have the time , me and my partner did not get the killer till the last couple of minutes.

Pure escapism

These stories are pure escapism, and reveal so much about the era they were written, old fashioned and frequently sexist (the wife, Stevie, so often is the one who picks up the clues, or works out the motives not because she is smart you understand, but because she uses her "intuition"). Book after book, they find people, half dead, groaning in the bushes, bombs in car, and poison in drinks. The working classes are "the salt of the earth", women have "pasts" and dry martini's are to die for. And yet, and yet, theres something about the stories that is really relaxing and fun, or as Paul Temple might say "by Timothy they are good".............

even better than Sherlock Holmes

This is a fantastic detective novel. It's beautifully structured keeping you guessing and on the edge of your seat while being easy to listen to. Peter Coke and Marjorie Westbury bring their characters effortlessly into life allowing you to follow their journey unravelling the mystery.

Thrilling…

… in an old- fashioned sort of way… .The BBC at its best… . Images of the family gathered round the wireless, a warm fire burning in the grate, for the latest weekly episode. Then there’s the wonderful, addictive music, the cut-glass English accents of Paul and Steve… . Which all adds up to a brilliant listen. What does it matter if the plots in the series are similar? Not at all. One great attraction is that nothing gets too complicated. Of course we are kept guessing, but don’t need to puzzle anything out. The whole tone of the mystery is that we sit back and let Paul Temple do the headwork.
Over three hours of pure relaxation!

Here the superb man & wife team together yet again for another fantastic adventure - this is a real good one. Full cast with perfect production & sound track. Paul Temple will keep you glued to your seats whilst the murderer is found. These are full of fun & the way Paul speaks to his wife will make you laugh. Perfect entertainment for a lazy Sunday. Love it❤️
