This is the story of Brigadier Rajendra Singh who fought a valiant battle against blood-thirsty Kabayli tribes who were on a rampage to loot, plunder and rape even as they encroached Kashmir just a few months after India-Pakistan Partition of 1947. Forcing their way to Srinagar, Kabayli group of 10,000 far outnumbered Brigadier’s small group of soldiers who had no back-up available from Indian army as Maharaja Hari Singh of Srinagar had still not signed Instrument of Accession with India. And yet Brigadier successfully stopped them and averted their attacks losing his life in the battlefield. He was posthumously awarded Mahavir Chakra for his exceptional courage.
