We tend to think of meditation as a formal practice we block time out for each day. But what if every moment of your life was your meditation? For Eckhart Tolle, meditation shouldn't be approached as a chore or a means to an end. Rather, meditation is something that you live. "The aim of meditation," states Eckhart, "is that it eventually becomes your normal state of consciousness." Essential Meditations with Eckhart Tolle points the way toward this quiet, constant state of Presence - where practice gives way to the realization of your innermost identity.

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Publisher's Summary
All you really need to do is accept the moment fully. You are then at ease in the here and now and at ease with yourself.
Throughout the spiritual classic The Power of Now are specific practices and clear keys that show us how to discover for ourselves the 'grace, ease, and lightness' that comes when we simply quiet our thoughts and see the world before us in the present moment.
Practicing the Power of Now is a carefully arranged series of excerpts from the The Power of Now that directly gives us those exercises and keys. Return to those words, reflect on the words, reflect even on the space between the words and - maybe over time, maybe immediately - you'll discover something of life-changing significance.

Life changing
I read this book in January 2013. I was going through chronic depression and my therapist recommended me to read it. Upon reading it made me feel as if it was written for me, it was talking to me. Gradually I followed what Eckhart teaches in the book and, overtime I felt lightness and free from the mental pressures. A must read to all who are in depression, worry, and anxieties.

Excellent Refresher
I listened to the Power of Now and found it wonderfully valuable. However, at 7 hours long, it's tough to use for reviewing the key lessons.
Practicing the Power of Now is more condensed and bite-sized. You can listen in 10-15 minute chunks and get real value. Or, listen to the entire book at once and get a complete reset.
I wouldn't buy this unless you've read or listened to the Power of Now, because you need to understand and believe the theories so well explained in that book. As a refesher, however, I found it very, very helpful, and more than worth the purchase price.

Realizing the Power
This is an excellent audiobook. It is repetitious, yes from the Power of Now but he the more you listen to it and don't try to figure it out, you will understand what he is trying to convey to you by just listening with and open mind. If you DO NOT have deep sorrow or need to find how to control your mind and seT your mind at peace then this book is not for you. It is to be listened to and listened to and then it all comes together. Little by little the words are consoling, and enlightening. I would recommend getting POWER OR NOW first and then listening to this book.

Stillness and inner peace!!!
This book is transforming, was on my second round with Power of Now, but this book puts it in a condensed sections of where it breaks it down to meaningful sessions that are provoking. The exercises he has you do help you to be still and reach inside to your inner body and helps you to let go of the thinking pattern going on. each session I am able to reach more of more of awakening! I find myself going hours of the Non thinking mind if I am not working. It is very refreshing and brings peace and calm in your every day life. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to be free from negative and bad behaviors, such as depression, anxiety, moodiness, all sorts of illnesses. I was in a state of deep depression when I started my journey and now I no longer identify myself by my past or from what others think of me, that is none of my business! Its great to have that freedom! it has even made changes to our lovely cat Buddy. he is much calmer and more affectionate around me.

Power of Now w/o the Q&A
What made the experience of listening to Practicing the Power of Now the most enjoyable?
Eckhart Tolle is the absolutely best of his kind, followed by Alan Watts and Ram Dass.
Have you listened to any of Eckhart Tolle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The Power of Now is the culmination of all of Tolle's works. I've read them all, and this one seems to distill the essence of his teaching. It's priceless.

Powerful and entertaining
Something about the way Tolle expresses himself is so entertaining. He gets his point across by asking simple questions with obvious answers that bring to light the nonsensical ways in which we think. This book truly enriched my life, introducing me to my own life using explanations so entertaining, self evident and logical that even my very cynical and anti-spiritual German husband enjoyed listening with me.

how to let go of future and past
Tolle is a spiritual master and his books are documents of this mastery. This book is one of his shorter ones and introduces you to the idea of the NOW which is, in Tolle's view, the only thing that really exists. Past and future have no intrinsic reality to them.
He explains also how to live in the now and what could prevent you from doing so and how to overcome these obstacles.
Tolle's somewhat monotonous, but warm and almost hypnotizing voice makes particularly the audio book a true spiritual experience that you don't want to miss.
This book might as well change the way you approach life. And be assured it will be a change you will like.

I'm flabbergasted how this man has opened my eyes.
I found the book a refreshing surprise. It's an easily digestible aid to the Power of Now, which I personally feel attuned to. The narrative provides a good housekeeping guide for the listener. Beautifully read, the idea is well conceived and executed.
For a month now I've been listening thrice weekly and I'm still unearthing gems to sustain my present state of grace, which makes me smile at the sheer value!
Life situations that previously challenged me by draining all my reserves just seem effortless now. Interestingly, people who seek conflict during the daily commute or work colleagues with their own personal battles to overcome, seem powerless now provided I observe the simple premise of the book.
The burden of cancer still lives in my close family and life situations continue to crash down on me, yet somehow this author has signposted a way of unfolding my conscious self from body and mind.
I recommend this book to those with an amber or green light for spiritualism.
Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Excellent recap material
Make sure you read the full book first before reading this one. This is well worth getting so you can refresh your memory on how to practice the principles in the original book. I like how the chapters are structured as I can choose a topic I may need help with in a particular moment when I need it. The power of now has changed my life more than anything I have ever read. Buy the original if you haven't read it yet and then get this after and listen to it a few times. We only retain about 10% of what we read/listen to so don't expect life changing results unless you give it a few listens. I intend to re-listen to the entirety of the original book again soon also. Every time I listen to this book I reach a new level of peace and happiness, thank-you Eckhart Tolle for your amazing contribution to this world.

Deepening the understanding
I have long returned to the original book, The Power of Now, as a reminder that there is only this moment, and that we need to be aware when our mind takes us off to the future or the past. The mind is a useful tool if we use it, rather than let it use us. In this book, Practising the Power of Now, Tolle explores and expands upon the themes from The Power of Now, and also A New Earth, which gives a greater depth of understanding to concepts like the pain body, the egoic mind and awareness. He also gives more practical examples of how his teachings apply in every day life,eg in relationships. His voice is soothing and hypnotic, and every word feels true and makes perfect sense. It is true what they say - when the student is ready, the teacher appears, and Tolle is a true teacher for our age.

One of the spiritual classics of our time.
Eckhart Tolle indeed drew from a multitude of spiritual sources to create The Power of Now. But that is easily forgiven, because his work is a seamless masterpiece that overarches cultures and religions and reaches to the profound core of existence and consciousness.
The present moment is all that ever really exists. The past only exists in memories and histories. The future only ever exists as a potential.
I like the physical book version of The Power of Now. But I've found the audio version of "Practicing the Power of Now" to be better as something to listen to whilst walking or running.
It's the kind of audiobook that certainly requires more than one listen I've found. Even after perhaps 10 listens, I'm still learning from it's content with each subsequent listen.

A good practical summary of PON
I liked ET reading his own work here, which makes it an ideal meditation and practical guide in its own right. There’s a lot of good tips and pointers that can really help in reducing suffering and being more present in life. I feel that ET doesn’t get to the root cause of the matter, which is better dealt with in some of the more direct Nondual pathways, however, he does help people get onto the path and gives some basic strategies in averting started and grounded.

I would recommend to anyone, very impressed.
You will gain some inner peace, once you take the time for yourself to get your deep breathing going and listen to the simplicity and calming voice of Elkhart Tolle.

listening on repeay
I've read a couple of Eckharts books over the years and have been life changing. This audiobook I listen to on repeat when getting around. wherever I pick up there are little gems that I can apply to my day, and I find it very grounding. excellent

Eckhart Tolle is really very good...
I found this to be succinct and filled with wisdom/truth. Got through it in a day and will start another listen as I will stop it more frequently and savor the ideas more.
