Publisher's Summary

An irresistible new romance from USA Today best-selling author Louise Bay - available in audio first!

The first time I meet Madison Shore, I’m greeted by her knickers. She’s upside down and trying to untangle herself from my chair at a wedding.

I get to see a whole lot more of her later that night.

The second time I meet Madison Shore is in my London office. Turns out she’s a journalist writing an article about me.

To keep control of my company, I need to convince people I’m more serious about business than my playboy reputation suggests. Madison holds my future in her hands.

Now I just need to convince the woman I took to bed on Saturday night that I'm not the player everyone thinks I am.

I have beef with another reviewer

Ok...getting irritated over another review isn’t really my style...and I only read a couple before diving into this book because Louise Bay is an automatic purchase/read/listen for me. I just want to say that if your main critique on a romance novel centers around too graphic/too many sex scenes, you’re reading the wrong genre, especially where this book is concerned. This reviewer astonishingly has more helpful votes than anyone else...and they basically said they had to fast forward through the sex scenes. This book literally had two primary sex scenes. Hours of listening passed with no sex. The sex was hot but not over-the-top in any way. If you’re that big of a prude, move on to a thriller novel or something! Onto my actual review...this was a great plot with interesting and relatable characters. I actually felt a couple spots dragged a little but overall this was a really enjoyable read. I would have loved a little more “romancing” or “courting”. However, Bay never disappoints. 4 star story and 5 star narration (these narrators are top notch and really sold the story - I’m in love with Shane East’s voice)! Definitely recommend. And bonus...free listen with membership and released first on Audible!!!!

a great listen

I have read a few books now by Louise Bay. They are all great stories with interesting characters and, in this case, fabulous narration.

Madison and Nathan first meet at a wedding and they have a quick, immediate connection. The next time they meet it is because she is a journalist writing about him. As they spend more time together it is obvious the chemistry between them can't be ignored. The pacing and character/relationship development made for a fun, quick read.

I usually buy audiobooks after having read the ebook or paperback first. However, I am glad I got to experience this story in audiobook the first time around. The narrators were excellent and I loved getting to hear the story told with the English accent.

Great plot

I really liked the story not just the same as multiple other man meets woman etc. Put a good light on family.

Way too much sexual description for my taste and I fast forwarded through to get on with the plot.

FANTASTIC!

I read a ton, with Romance being one of my favorite genres. Most follow the same HEA format with a bit of erotica or good old smut as I call it. This storyline was a slight bit different, even with everyone being gorgeous, with amazing bodies and fantastic careers (a is par for HEA apparently) it has a few unexpected twists that not only made it interesting, suspenseful but actually a bit believable! Well done!

That Narration

This was a good story. I enjoyed it. Although, I have to say I could listen to Shane East read the phonebook and be entertained. Holy cow that voice…

Billionaire Romance.

I love weddings! And I love when couples meet at a wedding as everyone is normally so happy. Madison didn’t mean to show all her angles when she first met Nathan, but I think it only endeared her to him more. They hit it off instantly and spent an incredible night together. Little did either know that come Monday, things for them will be a lot different. The thing that resonated with me the most was the family commitment, loyalty and banter amongst the siblings. I also enjoyed the connection this couple had, even with their disagreement.

I love listening to Shane East, his English accent is deep and hypnotic. It’s the first time I’ve heard Clare Corbett narrate and they made a good team bringing these characters to life.

Sex Without Motivation

I have a problem with I would term "slur novels" other than that lets the guy off the hook. Two people meet at a wedding weekend. After a humiliating accident, Madison dances with Nathan ; while on the dance floor, they negotiate having sex. Why? Supposedly this leads to the best sex ever. Forget love, respect, becoming friends, a courtship. In fact, forget building any type of relationship at all. I have up, but the formula for this type of novel via that by the end they somehow fall in love. That's the formula to write a cheap novel, not the way real life works.

Always great authentic stories

Louise never disappoints. She makes the stories so real. You always feel like you are there beside the characters feeling all the emotions and thoughts.
Especially, love that she has characters that actually get to the point with another character instead of running away and assuming what they are thinking. Yes there are many people who don’t communicate properly and keep everything inside and this might make a suspenseful story but it’s also frustrating as a reader. This author also show cases other real people as someone not holding it in and finding a way to communicate what they are thinking and feeling. You find yourself cheering the character on instead of getting frustrated. This story had it all. Loved it.

Great performances but repetitive writing

I enjoyed the plot of private player as a whole, but there were several things that felt irritating to the reader. There was an awful lot of “telling” - the relationship between the two felt forced and not actually based on anything.

The writing needs to be edited more closely - there are so many repetitive phrases within the same paragraphs or sentences that it becomes distracting. “It was as if” is used in almost every single paragraph, sometimes when it isn’t “as if”, it just is! It feels very lazy and is very noticeable, especially on audio. I almost wanted to drink every time it was said - except I don’t think I have that much alcohol!

The performances were great. I finished the book but found it quite hard work.

Ohhh I loved!!

A Louise Bay story + Shane East narration = heaven!
Shane & Clare really bring the characters to life. Louise has a natural way of writing her characters, they just flow. Hearing them brought to life is just... *swoooon*
Nathan and Madison have such amazing chemistry. I laughed, I shook my head and I wanted to just hug them both. I really enjoyed their story, I'll definitely be listening again.

🎧 Nathan and Madison 🎧

A pleasant listen with plenty of minor characters to keep you interested. Female narrator sounded rather older than the character, but Shane East was as enjoyable as always.

A breath of fresh air in the somewhat stale Romance genre.

This was truly a sweet and sassy read. Banter, wit and irony set the stage for a very enjoyable book. Furthermore it’s lovely and honest undertone as well as the classically sharp characters adds a charmingly timeless feel to the book. While balancing the romcom vs hot n sexy-combo perfectly it still manages to come down to earth enough to feel real and true. I’m in absolute forever-love with Nathan and Madisons and their London and Northfolk world and will be hoping for some companion books soon. Who wouldn’t want to return to read about the hot and eyelash-endowed brothers, sweet Audrey or. Miss feisty BnB owner to be. I’m stuck in an audible bubble and will click “play” on the International Player right away.

Well narrated by the two and a reasonable story. A very modern Mills and Boon or Barbara Cartland.

Good One

Madison is a writer for a paper. She is to write an article on Nathan, who needs a better profile, or he could lose his business.
Mandy, is Madison's Mum, and a gossip column writer. She is the one who exposed Nathan.

Nathan has 4 other brothers and lovely parents.
I'm sure there is more stories...
