Odd Thomas meets Jane Hawk.
If Odd Thomas had a baby with Jane Hawk, Quinn Quicksilver is that baby.
Quinn is very Odd like in his innocence, his gifts, his growth from regular guy to ruthless killer. He is very Jane like in his mission to destroy the power crazed evil overloads.
******** SPOILERS AHEAD*********
The themes in the book are ones that are visited in both series. Psychic Magnetism was coined by Odd and comes directly from that series. Then you have the theme of secret and covert government agencies that comes directly from Jane Hawk. Many other Jane themes shine through here as well, particularly the Cult using mind control to create mindless victims used by men- looking at you Aspasia.
The alien themes are straight from other Koontz books too. One Door Away from Heaven particularly.
Anyone who is saying this isn't very Koontz or that his novels have changed, isn't an avid reader and doesn't "get" him, because this book is Dean Koontz from cover to cover. It's absolutely everything he is and has written about from the very beginning. He hasn't changed, except with the times and the technology evolving with his characters.
The narrator is a bit grating at the beginning, but finds his pace and style after awhile.
All in all it's a good book and if you are a DK fan you will enjoy it. Well worth the time and the listen.

I'm glad I didn't listen to others reviews this was an awesome listen his voice changes were great especially the one that reminded me of a Robin Williams character

Spoiler: there is a dog
Written with Dean Koontz’s supernatural flare…where did this guy grow up??? Quint Quicksilver takes you and friends on a tremendous quest into forbidden territories. And like most of his best books, there is a doggo and magic involved!

Koontz formula
Dean Koontz used to be my favorite author hands down, but his recent books have become formulaic, revolving around the same theme, involving the same horrific acts, and deploying characters who all sound the same. I had thought/hoped this book would be different based on the description. I was wrong. I used to plow through Koontz books -- couldn't put them down! Now I'm just bored.

Meh….
I don’t think this was meant as a YA selection, but maybe it was. The narration made the main character sound quite young.
The story was pretty intriguing for just over half of the book. Then it either got boring, or went in a weird direction. I just lost interest in the characters.

Wonderful Read
I loved Quicksilver much more than I thought I would. The main character is very much like Odd Toed Thomas, kind and innocent yet maturing into a talented killer, maintaining his kind heartedness but bringing out his ruthlessness when needed. The story has tons of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. My one complaint is that 2 cities were mispronounced. Not a big deal, just a big pet peeves of mine. He even went so far as to explain how to mispronounce one name. I used to live near both of the towns so they know how the residents pronounce their towns. Probably not important to anyone but me. Definitely worth the credit!

The new Odd Thomas
For any fan of the Odd Thomas series, this will be a great listen. I love Koontz’ writing, but there is something distinct about both the Odd Thomas series - and now Quicksilver - that is even more endearing than his other books.

Disappointing regurgitated tosh!
Try earlier titles.This effort was asking far too much from a suspension of disbelief.Incredulous,even for the talented Mr Koontz.

Just more rubbish
Not going into what’s wrong with this book. Too much to say. What I will say is that both Dean Koontz and Stephen King should STOP WRITING DRIVEL and retire. Their brains are tired and nothing fresh is coming from their imagination. It’s tired. Don’t waste your money on this when there is so much young fresh talent out there. This is just money for nothing. Robbery in fact. I gave the reader 3 stars what could he have done with this? Bravo for trying

Too Preachy
Oh dear. This started out well, but it became so weird. Just a lot of horrific actions by baddies, then explaining why killing them was good and righteous. An overly religious story. Kind of all over the place too. Strange superpowers that don’t make sense and are not believable. Why spend chapter after chapter with an alien conspiracy character if it doesn’t pertain to the plot? Unanswered questions galore in this story. The big mystery of parental DNA goes no where, as though the author couldn’t decide on science or religion for the theme, so just threw in both and everything else preposterous too.

A fast paced read

Avoid buying!
I'm not sure what age group this is aimed at, but it doesn't matter. This is easily the worst book Dean Koontz has ever written, even the narrator sounds bored! If I could give this minus stars I would. Avoid buying.

Misdirection
Dean Koontz you are a visionary!
Brilliantly written & Todd fantasticly brought to life!
This book makes me question our reality?
How much of this can be found in this society we live in today?
Mere fictional musings from a mind open to all possibilities or is there a truth underlining this ?
Either way, excited for the next brilliant mastery of Dean Koontz writings!

Disappointing
Seemed like one written in a hurry to pay an unexpected bill. Started good and I was enjoying it but then it felt rushed and unfinished.
