Another exciting story in the number-one New York Times best-selling series! The Republic Fair is coming! Visitors from all over the galaxy are traveling to the planet Valo for a massive, awe-inspiring festival celebrating the Republic. While his fellow Valons prepare for the fair, Jedi Padawan Ram Jomaram is hiding out in his favorite place: a dingy garage filled with mechanical parts and tools. But when a security alarm goes off on the nearby hilltop nicknamed Crashpoint Peak, he ventures out with his trusty droid V-18 to investigate. There he discovers that someone has knocked out Valo's communications tower - a frightening sign that Valo, and the Republic Fair, are in danger. Sure enough, as Ram races to warn the Jedi, the dreaded Nihil unleash a surprise attack! It's up to Ram to face down the enemy at Crashpoint Tower and send a call for help to the Republic. Luckily, he's about to get some assistance from unexpected new friend....

Worst Star Wars narrator from the Disney era.

Every single Star Wars audio-book from the Disney era has been extremely high quality, some narrators better than others... but this is such a huge drop in quality... I understand it's supposed to be for kids but this is really rough... I also understand Todd Haberkorn is an anime voice actor, so he was probably hired to do the anime voice- but it is so jarringly bad. It almost feels like satire. That's not mentioning the quality of the voice recording which is abysmal... his microphone peaks on almost every single sentence... Did he record this on his laptop microphone? I honestly feel like that's the only possibility with how bad it sounds. His anime style of reading the book like a script is like nails on a chalkboard... he enunciates and emphasizes all the wrong words, I literally hate this and wish I could refund it. Todd Haberkorn if you ever read this, I want you to know I've enjoyed every single Star Wars audio book up until now and I've suffered through alot of horrible things in my life but nothing as bad as this reading you have done.

A bare minimum production.

While the narrator and story were mostly fine, having listened to many canon Star Wars audiobooks recently, the absolute, complete lack of music and sound effects really drags this audiobook down into quite the disappointing experience. The one previously released earlier this year: A Test of Courage is leagues better in all aspects. Really hope this isn’t the standard going forward with the shorter ones considering how amazing and immersive the YA and Adult Star Wars audiobooks are.

Decent all-ages story disappointingly perfomed.

Just looking at the story itself, it isn't bad for what it is; that being a side story aimed at a younger audience than The Rising Storm, which this story takes place alongside.

However, I was expecting more varied voice acting and sound effects, like the ones in other Star Wars audiobooks (like The Rising Storm, the Thrawn books, and Master and Apprentice) but those weren't included here.

Lacking the production of other Star Wars audiobooks

Overall, the story was fine. It was fun kids book and served as a nice intro to Ram (and to Lula and Zeen if you haven’t read High Republic Adventures). However, the audiobook felt quite lacking compared to other Star Wars productions. There were no background noises, no music, etc. i understand that it’s likely because this is a middle grades book, but I do wish it had been given the same care as the other high republic novels.

Great story to get younger readers into the genre

Another good side story with some good character development. This ties in nicely with The High Republic Adventures comic books as well.

Fun and Quick

Good for young readers and old. A great short story, to fill in a good story of the attack on Valo.

Weakest of the High Republic Series

It was going to happen at some point. This new High Republic era was going to have a dud in the book realm. A harmless dud, but a dud nonetheless.

This book suffers from being too much of a companion piece to The Rising Storm and it doesn't have enough of its own life to thrive and tell a compelling, fresh story. The characters are thin and the development we do get is rehashed.

Flip side, it being a companion piece and a part of this story is its biggest strength. The continued tying of characters and story threads from all of the High Republic stories into other stories and mediums continues to impress. Thus I am interested in seeing where the characters go.

Again, harmless read overall and one High Republic completionists still need to digest, but it's definitely a kids book.

Good

I listen to everything Star Wars because its a bit of an obsession. These younger aimed books, I am definitely not the demographic for but they're still good for popping on whole you're cooking food etc. This one is a good little companion piece to the main series' second book which is amazing. Give it a whirl of you've got nothing else on.

Another great instalment in the wave High Republic novels

I enjoyed the story, it’s great to see some of the characters that we know and love from the other comics and novels action. The narrator generally did a great job, though I do miss the music and sound effects which is almost standard for Star Wars audiobooks.

My only criticism would be that the ending felt like a bit of an anti-climax with regard to the Drengir.

I did enjoy how this book crosses over with the rising storm novel.

Good sorry, poor performance

Disappointed at the lack of production value present in other Star Wars Audible Books.
Good story though, good tie in to the Rising Storm.

Don't skip Jr books if you like the full novels!

I'm loving these High Republic stories.
I do wish there was more consistency to the given voices/accents/impressions.
Vernestra in this book sounding nothing like Vern in her debut book.

I actually really enjoyed this one

Really like how this book paints a more complete picture of the events in Rising Storm and I personally love the connection to the High Republic Adventures comics.

Definetely recommend it to fans of Rising Storm and the High Republic Adventure comics.

It was okay

Quite nicely carries on with the 'High Republic' theme. I dont think it will be considered a classic but it passed the time on and was okay as a short story. Definitely not as good as the other stories on the series. I personally wasnt keen on the narration. The story ambled on nicely and introduced a few new characters.

Pretty cool

An entertaining short story with some interesting and wise insights into Jedi philosophy as well. Good story flow. Very good performance.
