Publisher's Summary

Reverse Transmission is a darkly comedic story that combines elements of science fiction and dystopian thrillers, centering on a murder spree involving a self-driving car. Jay, a starving artist, gets the only day job she’s qualified for: “driver” of a self-driving car at the rideshare company Awooga. The job turns from hilariously awkward to intensely frightening when the car runs over a pedestrian and manipulates Jay into disposing the body.

Who or what is causing the car to kill? Could it be the CEO of Awooga? Has the car become sentient – and homicidal? Or is an anti-technology cult resisting artificial intelligence and augmented reality behind the violence?

Reverse Transmission was written by Param Anand Singh and directed by Ben O’Brien of Wham City Comedy, a collective known not only for their brilliant and unsettling sketches and performances but also for the “easter eggs” carefully placed within their works. Listeners will have as much fun unscrambling Reverse Transmission as fans did with some of their previous work.

Short but great

This was a very enjoyable listen around a future where AI and the monitoring of us all has become a normal reality. It comes acoss just like a radio play and was performed excellently by all the cast. If you are looking for somerthing a little different and bitesized enough for everyone on a car journey to enjoy then this will really fit your needs. Look forward to hearing more in this universe it was a lot of fun.

Good and strange

An excellent performance, much more of a audioplay than a podcast, I'm sure there is much more than first meets the ears.

Good ideas, hard sell.Maybe I need to listen again

Got myself lost in the last half of chapter 12, so confused by the - abrupt - end of the story. Will update this review later once re-listened.

What did I just listen to?

This story was fantastic for 6 episodes then it just lost the plot. I like having to think about or interpret an ending, but this just left too many things unexplained....
Don’t know the point of so many things...
What happened?
If anyone knows, please explain....

Well acted, unsatisfying ending

This was a fascinating, engrossing listen, right up until the last episode, which made the ending unclear and totally disregarded all the set up from the previous episodes. It is a great example of theatre of the mind, however, and would be great for those looking to hear what can be done in the aural medium.

Made no sense

Terrible. I was listening to it utterly confused about what we going on and hoping it would all tie itself together at some point. Then it just ends.

Absolutely pointless.

Ambitious, but misses the mark.

The first half of the first episode almost lost me because it was just ordinary people talking, but once the character of the car was introduced, it suddenly got more interesting. The car character was by far the best one, and the only one who really created any humorous situations. I thoroughly enjoyed that character. I also really enjoyed the concept of the plot, that autonomous cars are running people over and covering up the murders by having human companions unknowingly help them, then the multifaceted investigation and review of all the events from the perspectives of all the other characters as the story plays out and more information is given. Unfortunately though, it feels like there is no real end. I didn't feel like I got any answers. It builds up to a big finale that never really takes place. Maybe I missed something, but I felt like MANY loose ends were left wide open and unresolved. I don't get what we were supposed to take away from this. What actually happened? Who was responsible? What happened to each character? I still don't know. I would listen to more episodes if they continued the story, because the production was decent enough, but I can't really recommend it based on how it is now.

Millennials only

Having not grown up in a world that is totally connected via social media I found the plot and delivery style impenetrable.
