Publisher's Summary

The Banished Lands are engulfed in war and chaos. The cunning Queen Rhin has conquered the west, and High King Nathair has the cauldron, most powerful of the seven treasures. At his back stands the scheming Calidus and a warband of the Kadoshim, dread demons of the Otherworld. They plan to bring Asroth and his host of the Fallen into the world of flesh, but to do so they need the seven treasures.

Nathair has been deceived, but now he knows the truth. He has choices to make, choices that will determine the fate of the Banished Lands.

Elsewhere the flame of resistance is growing - Queen Edana finds allies in the swamps of Ardan. Maquin is loose in Tenebral, hunted by Lykos and his corsairs. Here he will witness the birth of a rebellion in Nathair's own realm.

Corban has been swept along by the tide of war. He has suffered, lost loved ones, sought only safety from the darkness. But he will run no more. He has seen the face of evil, and he has set his will to fight it. The question is: how? With a disparate band gathered about him - his family, friends, giants, fanatical warriors, an angel and a talking crow - he begins the journey to Drassil, the fabled fortress hidden deep in the heart of Forn Forest.

Brilliant and intoxicating

There are parts in this book, that you stop frozen by the trepidation of what has happened and what may next occur.

The vocal unfolding of the book by Damian Lynch is spellbinding. So much of this book is pure brilliant and other parts, good beyond average. There's not a similar book by another author, I feel compares to Ruin.

Soooo good

It's really hard to say what I loved about this book with out ruining it for others, if you have read the other two read this, if you haven't read the other two start now. Proper old school fantasy.

Like the story but find Gwynne repetitive

Brilliant narrator.

Shame Gwynne is repetitive in their imagery, adjectives and plot delivery.

All in all I'm really enjoying the story, but would like it if everything wasn't an "explosion" or "spray" of blood.

Superior modern fantasy

What a wonderful story with engaging and believable characters. The audiobook narrator is superb, putting in a proper performance and filling the narrative and dialogue with character and emotion. Really first class.

Its going to get bloody

The myth is no longer; the god wars have arrived. There are so many characters coming and going it keeps you on your toes throughout making this quite a complex series.

Nathair now has the cauldron. Rhin is now Queen of the western regions. Fidele, Nathair's Mother is being manipulated by Lycos, one of Calidus' people and pure evil. I could go on, but it might give too much away. Suffice it to say, the amount of characters seems to grow with each book followed by more death and destruction. Saddest moment: When Fech was killed

Awesome Continuation of a Fantastic Epic.

I have already purchased the Sequel, I am only forcing Myself to write this Commendation before continuing to be totally engulfed within this Saga.

Fantastic story.

Loved this book. Great story, fast paced with lots of action. Some of the very best battle scenes in fantasy I've read. Excellent plot twist and some of the very best yet heartbreaking pov endings in a series ever, I'm starting book 4 now.
