Publisher's Summary
When planning for the future we often ask, “What will the economy be doing this time next year?” Or, “What will be different ten years from now?”
But forecasting is hard. The important events that will shape the future are inherently unpredictable.
Instead, we should be asking a different question:
What will be the same ten years from now?
What will be the same one hundred years from now?
Knowledge of the things that never change is more useful, and more important, than an uncertain prediction of an unknowable future.
In Same As Ever, bestselling author Morgan Housel shares 24 short stories about the ways that life, behaviour, and business will always be the same.
Armed with this knowledge of the unchanging, you will have a powerful new ability to think about risk, opportunity, and how to navigate the uncertainty of the future.
As you see familiar themes repeat again and again in the years ahead, you’ll find yourself nodding and saying, “Yep, same as ever.”

Brilliant
Like Psychology of Money, this is a brilliant book full of stories and examples to keep you grounded in reality in this hyperactive hyperbole hyperexpectation world. Though many will find it dull or boring because it's not promising any magic fix for life which we all want 😅. Do listen to it atleast few times with a calm mind for it's lessons.

Unveiling long term success
In "Same as Ever," Morgan Housel masterfully explores the concept that significant achievements and developments take time, often more than we initially anticipate. Housel uses compelling examples, such as the evolution of Facebook from a simple photo-sharing application to a global political influencer, to illustrate the unpredictable nature of long-term growth and success.
One of the book's central themes is the power of compounding — a force Housel describes as both subtle and mighty. He argues that its effects, while imperceptible in the short term, can lead to astonishing outcomes over extended periods. This perspective challenges the reader to reevaluate the often-overlooked importance of patience and persistence in the pursuit of substantial goals.
Housel also delves into the human tendency to prioritize immediate gratification over long-term rewards, despite acknowledging the greater benefits of the latter. This aspect of the book is particularly thought-provoking, as it holds up a mirror to our societal and personal biases towards short-term achievements.
A striking point in the book is the suggestion to embrace idleness. Housel advocates for creating mental space to allow ideas to flow freely, implying that constant activity and the relentless pursuit of goals can sometimes be counterproductive to creativity and long-term success.
Overall, "Same as Ever" is a compelling read that offers insightful perspectives on growth, patience, and the human psychology surrounding success and goal setting. Housel's engaging writing style, combined with his use of relatable examples, makes complex ideas accessible and resonant. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in personal development, business strategy, or understanding the often unpredictable nature of long-term success.
