When children go missing, and the humans have no leads, I'm the one they call. I am their last hope for bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot. My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker. Crossing into ogre country is dangerous when you're a polite, respectful gal. Which means I already know I'm in for a wild ride despite the backup I've brought along.

Story
Demons are putting rips in the veil in order to cross over and steal my friends and allies away. But going after them isn't even close to simple. The deepest level of the veil is not a place you can just open a doorway to, after all, and of course that's where they've been taken. As fate would have it, it looks like I might get some help from a trained demon slayer and his fire-breathing ride. The only problem? Said demon slayer claims to have family ties to me. And I've never trusted my family. Nor am I about to start now.

Publisher's Summary
When children go missing and the humans have no leads, I'm the one they call. I am their last hope for bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot. My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker.
O'Shea is AWOL, and tracking him is proving to be harder than I expected. Not to mention the small fact that I have the Beast of Bodmin Moor chasing me across Europe in a race against the odds, with my life as the prize.
But those things are minor compared to the secrets that finally come to light. Secrets I wish had stayed hidden in the darkness....

enjoyed the story but the higher voice turn off.<br />
I didn't realize I had not listed to the first three books in the series which I also own, which was my mistake. not only did I miss out on a great deal of the story but I was not prepared for the narrator higher pitched very young sounding voice. it made me feel as though I was listening to one of my children read it although with much clearer diction and voices for character that were identifiable and clear. if her pitch was half to a full octive lower I would have enjoyed the book greatly. she is tallented and would do wonders in book for say children that respond well her type of voice and would go crazy for the voices she can do. even books where the main character is no older than sixteen her voice would be an asset, however the 14 year old mage in the book was not the main character Rylee is. the voice should better resemble a person that sounds older than 12-16.

No spoilers
Ms Mayer's books are a must read/listen to. So full of action, suspense, laughs and so much more. I know the author states this can be read/listen to as a standalone but don't each book ties together in world and characters building book's start where the last leaves off. But I promise you won't be sorry. Mayer is a true master at story tell, world building and character development. The narration was ok Calvin has either gotten better or I've gotten used to her either way I will be listening to the next book in the series. Can't wait to find out what Mayer has stored for Rylee and her misfit family.what a brilliant mind she has.
