Publisher's Summary

Sheltered is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi sitcom, starring Gemma Whelan, Sindhu Vee, Rufus Hound and Marek Larwood. Other parts are played by Wilf Scolding, Alana Ramsey, Felicity Duncan and C Grezo.

It’s been centuries since Armageddon and no one has ever left the bunker that has sustained what remains of civilised human life....

When innocent simpleton Gary and social climber Veronica are sent to explore the world outside, they soon regret ever leaving the safety, soft furnishings and quilted toilet paper of Fallout Shelter 7421.

As they reluctantly join forces with the (frankly unjustifiably) arrogant pirate, Lady Reaver, to find their way back, they are forced to reckon with a wasteland of hellishly psychotic robots, hairy radioactive mega-badgers, and slavering cannibals.

Awful. This is truly dire.

Was this supposed to be a comedy? It reminded me of the insipid tripe that passes off as comedy sometimes on the midmorning radio 4 schedules. Listened to about half an hour, and it was neither gripping as a drama or funny as a comedy. Reminded me of those average all round cricketers, who claim to be able to both bat and bowl but can, in fact, do neither very well. I've not lost interest in an audio book so quickly after starting it. Just glad it was free.

Boring

I gave up after two episodes due to the very boring characters and story.
The production and performances are pretty good though.

not even remotely funny

Finished two episodes to give it a reasonable chance. The story is extremely thin and the mild attempts at social sarcasm just are too obvious to even raise smile. Avoid.

Different but worth it

I liked the original story and the different characters. Makes you think that even at the end of the world people will still be the same.

Red Dwarf meets Fallout

Was extremely presently surprised by this!

It’s definitely already up my alley, genre-wise, but I wasn’t too sure what to expect - there’s quite a bit of chaff out there.

Definitely not the case with this gem, though!

Great writing, well-paced, easy to follow, with a fantastic cast giving superb performances and some wonderful sound design.

Felt a bit like if Red Dwarf were set in the Fallout universe, with the wackiness of the Mighty Boosh radio series. Fun characters and great little self-contained storyline’s for each episode, with a simple but effective series arc.

Really hope there’ll be more!

Great fun and well done

This reminded me of listening to the radio show of HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy. I found this absolutely hilarious. It never lagged or strayed or got dull. The four main characters are brilliant. They are all well written and well acted. I wish I could remember where I heard about this one because I owe them a huge thanks.
Have a listen. You’ll love it!!
