Story
Drew Marshall may have let me move into his spare bedroom while my house is being renovated, but don’t think for one second his kindness comes without strings - big, ugly fake-relationship strings. That’s okay, though, Dr. Andrew. I’ll agree to your terms, move into your house, and act like your girlfriend when the big day comes, but I also plan to make your life miserable - make you pay for what you did to me. I may not be good at forgiving or forgetting, but I’m excellent at getting even.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Almost perfect
Everything in this book is excellent. The characters, the plot, and all that. However, I feel the ending is the way it is to accommodate a second book. It should have been a single book.

A complete blockbuster!!!!
What a ride!!!! After so many days i read something so fantastic that it will be forever in my mind. Absolutely amazing experience i had. The atmosphere is so rich, dark and haunting. you will never get bored. From first to last it was taught with action. Each and every character is very well written and described. There is no unnecessary descriptions but the actions and thinking of the characters gave you the insight of their moulds. The multiple point of view also made it more interesting to read and hold the development of the story.
The only problem is that if you are gone through Berdugo's GRISHAVERSE then the terminologies will be much easier to follow. But without that it can be a little overwhelming for some readers. I am through with the Shadow and Bone trilogy but still i listened to the first chapter atleast thrice to get into. After the fourth chapter everything started to make sense. Also i thought that if the story was made for the adults it would have been much more interesting and jam-packed. Apart from that i loved the story, the plot, the characters and the world. It was fascinating. And i am a KANEJ fan indeed. No dought it is my new favourite fantasy ❣️
