Story
The idyllic quiet of a picture postcard English village is shattered when a book club member is murdered by his former student and lover. But why would anyone kill a retired English teacher, a pillar of his community? Perhaps the answer lies in the trail of writing that he, and his killer, left behind: diaries, poems and novels. Documentary maker Gillian Pachter lifts the lace curtain to reveal a secret wedding, sordid affairs, drug abuse and psychological torture. She enlists the help of James, a former student of the victim, to try and uncover the truth.

Silly, all over the place and just excellent.
Most of the time I don't like acted books but this one is pure perfection. The two main characters are a full on mess, tumbling through the investigation like a drunk giraffe. It is brilliantly acted, the characters are distinct and I giggled my way throughout the series. Fully recommend.

unlistenable
I found this appalling but I suspect that is because I am so far from the audience they are aiming at. I'm guessing those who enjoy a snide camp sassy thing. I had trouble following a lot of the brash loud unsubtle dialogue and plot and after a very short while (30minutes) stopped listening. Not great writing and trying to make up for it by shouting. Me no like.

Tik-Tok era Murder Mystery
I enjoyed this story and the fun of the different characters. It’s a little bit ludicrous and wacky, and makes a side-swipe at social media and reality TV culture that gave me a good laugh.
Appreciate that this is set in Florida ~ so your narrators have American accents.
I actually also really liked the music chosen to accompany scene-changes in the story, and that the blooper reel was kept at the end.

Much fun
Quirky, very silly. A bit off the wall - I can see why it didn't float the boat of others but I loved it. Actually made me laugh out loud in places and was a good distraction whilst doing some mundane stuff.

Magically stupid
This is a modern American version of the archetypal BBC radio detective stories. If you're not from the UK, it's a lovely balance between intrigue, witty dialogue, low level emotional strife, and slow paced sleuthing. It's not taxing, but it's very fun, has some laugh out loud moments, and is eminently enjoyable.
