Story
Cath and Wren are identical twins, and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university, and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair any more - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She's horribly shy and has always buried herself in the fan fiction she writes, where she always knows exactly what to say and can write a romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.

Publisher's Summary
From the author of The Last Boy and Girl in the World and The List comes a bold and sweet summer listen about first love, feminism, and ice cream.
Summer in Sand Lake isn't complete without a trip to Meade Creamery - the local ice cream stand founded in 1944 by Molly Meade, who started making ice cream to cheer up her lovesick girlfriends while all the boys were away at war. Since then, the stand has been owned and managed exclusively by local girls, who inevitably become the best of friends.
Seventeen-year-old Amelia and her best friend, Cate, have worked at the stand every summer for the past three years, and Amelia is "Head Girl" at the stand this summer. When Molly passes away before Amelia even has her first day in charge, Amelia isn't sure that the stand can go on. That is, until Molly's grandnephew Grady arrives and asks Amelia to stay on to help continue the business...but Grady's got some changes in mind.

Lingers like the last bite of a sweet treat.
I love this book so much. The language, relationships, dynamics, female secret business powerhouses, and self discovery. I really liked watching the development of the characters in the same work environment, it showed how each character was unique, yet tied to the same beloved place. The juxtaposition with Amelia and Molly in their lives. The dynamic in the stand and the girls was perfect. Cate and the pin were the cherry on top for me.
I don't like how many modern YANA romances are tied up with a happy ending, I want a little more hopeful realism than sugary sweet glitter that curdles. This is a great example of how there are so many more important relationships than just a guy. There are so many ways to forge a path for yourself and still stay sweet.

A Nice Summary Read
So this book was a nice summary read, it was so simple and drama free and I liked the atmosphere with the Ice cream stand and the girls friendship in there, it made me nostalgic to things in my own high school days, the simple story was fluffy and the romance was nice .. but nothing was really happening in the book .. up until the end ..
I liked Amelia as a main character and her relationship with Grady is also nice and simple but I wish if it was all about Molly and her story how she opened the stand, it would've been much more interesting to me
overall if you're looking for a quick read on the beach to waste some time this is the perfect thing for you :)
The narration is also nice and I like how she says the name of the flavors of the Ice Creams .. it makes me want an Ice cream from Meads Creamery :D

Lite fun read/listen
I'm not into drama queens, but I am into ice cream. This was a triple decker cone 4 me. There were issues to be sorta out, but goes to show...communication is key & ice cream always smooths things over.

Kate is an awful character
I loved this story and really identified with Amelias love for the ice cream stand. I too fell in love with my first job in a restaurant the same way that has been a family run business for 60 years and basically unchanged. I really loved Amelias compassion and concern for the business. I love the subtle love story that builds throughout but I wish it touched on it a little more in the end, maybe with an epilogue with “one year later” or something to show how Grady and Amelia were, and how the ice cream truck turned out.
But through the whole story i HATED the character Kate. She was such a bully throughout the story. She was rude, unapologetic, and an abusive friend towards Amelia. I know you need some kind of drama and fight to an extent but i think the whole back and fourth with Amelia and Kate was awful.

Stay Sweet
I'm not usually one for a romantic summer story but I really like this one. I hope there is a sequel coming out. I enjoyed listening to this while I would eat ice cream or being outside with my dogs. My favorite character is Katie, I'm not sure why but I can relate to her a lot. I always wished I could work at an ice cream stand so I was happy to listen to a book about teenagers working at an ice cream shop. The book has good characters and I like how it followed the main character Amelia and how you can hear her thoughts through out listening to the book. Bailey Carr is a good narrator and helped me get into the book quickly. I'm going to give Siobhan Vivian other books a listen. I'm curious to see if they will be as good as this one. I found out about this book through someone on youtube and I'm glad I gave it a listen. I'm going to defiantly listen to this book again either this summer or next summer.

Good summer story
The story was fun, not as epic as could have been possible, but definitely worth a credit. Love the dynamics of the characters; it was a bit predictable, but overall a good book. The narrator isn't bad and has good vocal distinctions for the characters, but has a weird puff/sigh thing after sentences, especially sentences spoken by the two main female characters. It's a little annoying, but isn't constant and she is a good reader nonetheless. This book isn't earth-shattering, but it ended well and was a fun setting.
