Publisher's Summary

Lord Nathaniel Harte, the disagreeable duke of Beswick, spends his days smashing porcelain, antagonizing his servants, and snarling at anyone who gets too close. With a ruined face like his, it's hard to like much about the world - especially smart-mouthed harpies (with lips better suited to kissing than speaking) who brave his castle with indecent proposals.

But Lady Astrid Everleigh will stop at nothing to see her younger sister safe from a notorious scoundrel, even if it means offering herself up on a silver platter to the forbidding Beast of Beswick himself. And by offer, she means what no highborn lady of sound and sensible mind would ever dream of - a tender of marriage with her as his bride.

Beast of Beswick

The Beast of Beswick by Amalie Howard Historical romance with the premise loosely taken from the fairytale. Everleigh Sisters series book 1. Astrid goes to the Duke of Beswick with a proposal to save her sister from a scoundrel. High society drama and manipulation ensue. Astrid is quite vocal about the rights, or lack thereof, for women in the time period. She is strong and courageous and will do anything for her sister. Astrid is also clever and unlikely to take no for an answer without having a backup plan. I loved her cunning and fortitude. And her compassion and spunk. And while the Duke wouldn’t want us to feel sorry for him, he’s really a hero. Both at heart and actuality. That his servants love and look out for him, is telling. Charming and entertaining. Amusing and sensitive. And sexy too. I don’t read a lot of historical romance so was pleasantly surprised by the heroine progressive attitudes. I alternated between the ebook and audio version. Nina Nato as the narrator did a good of of portraying emotions.

esta bien

I found this book to be just ok. I love imperfect heroes, but this hero was just mediocre.

A Fun Escape

I really liked this story, it had lots of fun twists and turns. I didn't have the same issues as some of the other reviewers with subplots not being explained - I thought everything was explained beautifully and flowed well. This was my first book by Amelie Howard but it won't be my last. If you like Myra Banks and Alice Coldbreath you will enjoy this book
