first story is good rest Snore!!!! so........ yeah not worth the money I would suggest listening to creepypastas instead for free on YouTube

If you are a fan of Anthology books, don't be afraid to check this one out!

I love horror stories and anthology books in general. I have checked out a couple of these The Best Horror Of The Year and they are mixed bags. Some stories are slow burners and there are a few great ones scattered about. The narration is always pretty good! Don't be afraid to check these out. If you do you might miss out on really good stuff!!

Must have been a slow year for horror...

The narrator was good. Wish I could say the same for the stories included. None of them were scary and a lot of them just felt unfinished/undeveloped.
Glad I got this free with my membership cause it wouldn’t have been worth spending money or credit on.

Best Horror.... Not so much....

To title a novel as "Best Horror of the Year" sets a very high standard. A significant point was that each of the stories and their respective narrations deviated in quality, from mediocre to disappointing. None were particularly fear or terror invoking.

repeat repeat repeat

I don't know why I keep buying these books. the lazy crappie practice of repeating stories in each one carries over and over and over. disappointed feeling ripped off. also disappointed in Ellen datlow whom I have enjoyed for years. this did not happen with the Fairy Tail series. how does one win Awards with such shoddy lazy, and predatory practices? s shame on you

These can't possibly be the best of the year

There were only a couple of stories that I actually enjoyed. The rest were boring, had no point, or had bad endings.

meh - hit and miss

Couple good stories that I enjoyed. Several failed to engage or tried to induce dread but only induced boredom. Glad it was free.

One scary story out of a dozen

I bought this for an 1800 mile road trip. Out of a dozen so far, I've only found one story amusing or even slightly scary. The narration on almost every story has been full and drab and is making me fall asleep while driving.

Unformed

Don't waste your credit. I've been burned by previous volumes of this collection but I thought different authors would equal different result and it did...it just wasn't a likable difference. I couldn't bring myself to listen to all of these stories but the common thread for me was they all seem like first drafts made by an author undecided on the direction he/she wants the story to go. Many of the characters are flat, the story lines are rambling and the endings often fizzle. The performances are mediocre and although the writing has opportunities to injection drama, sarcasm, suspense, an accent/dialect, humor or rage the performers never become anyone else from story to story. There's never any doubt the performers are sitting at a mic reading (no Frank Muller here).

Nice collection, off narrator

One of the narrators really didn’t know their way around an English accent. It was jarring that a couple of parents sounded so pikey. There’s no need to go so far with it.

My only moan is that when stories were obviously set in the UK American narration jars when they say English terms wrong.

great collection

good fun collection of horror stories, some brilliant, some just good, but thoroughly enjoyed as a whole.
