Story
The stakes have never been higher. If Percy Jackson and Annabeth fail in their quest, there'll be hell on Earth. Literally. Wandering the deadly realm of Tartarus, every step leads them further into danger. And, if by some miracle they do make it to the Doors of Death, there's a legion of bloodthirsty monsters waiting for them. Meanwhile, Hazel and the crew of the Argo II have a choice: to stop a war or save their friends. Whichever road they take one thing is certain - in the Underworld, evil is inescapable.

Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek God. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. That's when things started really going wrong. Publisher's Summary
The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of The Blood of Olympus - the fifth book in the best-selling Heroes of Olympus series, set in the high-octane world of Percy Jackson. Though the Greek and Roman crew members of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

Excellent Again
What did you like most about The Blood of Olympus?
okay I'm not the traditional audience for Rick Riordan's books, I'm an adult who just happens to read a lot, and has a soft spot for fantasy and mythology.
The Percy Jackson series got me hooked, and this series has continued to keep me interested enough to pre-order book five. I'm saying nothing about the story itself because I don't like spoilers, but from the previous four books you just know it's gonna be good.
Who was your favorite character and why?
too many to choose from, Riordan writes some really good characters.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
don't make a film of any more Rick Riordan books, the disaster that was lightning thief was enough to put me off watching any more!!
Any additional comments?
The mythologies are accurate, for kids who don't know their greek and roman mythology (and egyptian with the kane chronicles), these are a fun introduction to them.

The story is weak and as an ending it is weaker.
Yet another disappointing finale by rick. By now the weight of Leo’s death is gone as he comes back, the fact they beat Gaia is ridiculous, ouranous was killed by five titans and trickery and he was created by Gaia. No important losses other than Octavian. It ends with no tension between the camps, that is completely unbelievable. The writing got worse and I honestly believe that it’s a shame there are no Percy or annabeth chapters, they are the most beloved characters of the seven. Leo is completely disappointing. We get no new insight on his character and then he dies but it’s fine, guess who’s back, back again. Jason gets stronger and so does piper, nothing wrong with that I guess but Reyna gets backstory so that’s a positive. Nico also just gets stronger, well not just that he gets a skimmed over friendship with Reyna and a relationship with will that is not developed at all, it’s basically a mutual crush from what I can tell.
Overall this is just disappointing. If you’ve read the other books but not this one then read it but don’t bother with a second time around

A fantastic end to a fantastic series
Would you listen to The Blood of Olympus again? Why?
I re-read books I love over and over again and this makes the cut. It's a rare book that can educate and entertain you at the same time and Rick Riordan's imagination is just a pleasure to listen to.
What other book might you compare The Blood of Olympus to, and why?
I hate comparing books as every Author deserves recognition in their own right. So I'll compare this to Rick Riordan's other books and say that it more than measures up. It's not anyone who can write a long series and produce books that are of the same standard throughout. The only other two Authors that spring to mind are JK Rowling and Michael Buckley.
What about Nick Chamian’s performance did you like?
He's not the best reader, particularly when compared with Joshua Swanson who read the earlier books in this series, but I find the voices he does amusing. It says a lot for this book that it carry's itself no matter who reads it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I almost managed it. If I hadn't had to stop for small necessities like eating and sleeping I would have.
Any additional comments?
I'm assuming anyone picking up this book is already familiar with the world of Greek Gods and their half-blood offspring that Rick Riordan portrays so brilliantly. I've always loved Greek Mythology which was what initially drew me to his books. I fell in love with the Percy Jackson series for their humour and vivid descriptions, and this was increased ten fold in the Heros of Olympus series. The characters are just so life-like and colourful that you'll never forget them. As with all Rick Riordan's books, I was gripped throughout, and I only hope he isn't done with either this world or these characters.

I love the book so much. I love how the Romans and Greeks came together and work together. I found it so cool when the last chapter was Leo going back to Ogigia to save Calypso. My favourite part is when they all destroy the monsters and Gia. My least favourite the end because it is sad how he ends it. I love Rick he is such a good writer.
