Publisher's Summary

Every trader is an entrepreneur. And just as a new business must capitalize upon the strengths of its founders, a career in the markets crucially hinges upon the assets - personal and monetary - of the trader. As an active trader and a coach of traders in hedge funds, proprietary trading groups, and investment bank settings, author Brett Steenbarger has helped others see the personal assets they have possessed all along: those that can pay a lifetime of dividends.

In The Daily Trading Coach, Steenbarger provides the tools to help you prioritize both your trading goals and your life - and become your own trading psychologist.

There are 101 lessons in The Daily Trading Coach, each averaging several minutes in length. Each lesson follows the same general format: identifying an everyday challenge that traders face, an approach to meeting that challenge, and a specific suggestion for implementing that approach. The lessons cover a range of topics relevant to trading psychology and trading performance, including detailed instruction for utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioral brief therapy methods to change problematic behavior patterns and instill new, positive ones. In addition, the book includes insightful self-coaching perspectives from 18 successful trading professionals who share their work online.

While the aim of the book is to help you become your own trading coach, its broader purpose is to help you coach yourself through life. The challenges and uncertainties you face in trading - the pursuit of rewards in the face of risks - are just as present in careers and relationships as in markets. The Daily Trading Coach provides a road map, and a practical set of insights and tools, for discovering and implementing the best within you.

An excellent read

The books is a must read for the trader and it gives invaluable insights into how disciplining and training the mind is so very important for a trader. The author goes to great lengths to provide details and excellent examples on the various topics.

It could have been extremely helpful in case the following are incorporated:
- The chapters are laid out as they are narrated and the headings are provided in the menu.
- The various lessons alongwith the titles are also listed under each chapter so that one could browse to them and reread them more easily.
- The various references and web-links are provided in the additional inputs pdf file so as one can access them easily as its not possible to get them from audio.

Great book and tips

Would you consider the audio edition of The Daily Trading Coach: 101 Lessons for Becoming Your Own Trading Psychologist to be better than the print version?

This book is perfect to be placed in audiobook format because there are no real charts, tables, or figures to look at it. I personally hate reading and only do so when necessary. I'm thankful I found this book here. I found it via Investimonials - they provided great reviews of this book if you would like further information/reviews...and I guess there are the numerous www.amazon.com reviews...

What did you like best about this story?

It helped me a lot to assess my psychological trading mistakes. I think every trader should at least skim over this book. They will find a mistake they are committing. I've learned a lot about myself while reading this book like my fear or rejection or making mistakes - this makes me stay in positions longer than I should. There are a lot of great trading tips.

Which scene was your favorite?

Definitely does not apply to a trading book...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

...It's a trading book...

Excellent Audible/Book!

I actually bought this book solely to improve my trading. I've been trading for around three years and felt that I needed to work on things like emotional control and other psychological components of the trade process.

Although I have used it extensively for trading, I have also found the material useful for improving other aspects of my life that are unrelated to trading.

I prefer the actual print book, which I also have, because it's easier to study the material thoroughly and go back over certain sections when I need to. Still, whether it's the audible version, or the or the print or e-book format, you can't go wrong with The Daily Trading Coach. Of all the similar books on trading, this is one is the absolute best I have found.

The best book about trading psychology

There is no doubt in my that this is the best book I've read about trading psychology! Not only does the author give excellent advice and steps to make someone the best trader they can be, he also breaks it down in such a way that it really sticks in your mind with examples throughout the book that make it as real as possible, so that the concepts are very easy to remember and apply.

This book is a life changer!

Love this book! I have the printed book as well but wanted to read and listen to the audio at the same time. It provides more depth then just reading the book alone. Dr. Steenbarger is a brilliant person.

Ok, but wouldn't buy again.

This book just covers your own personal psychology, nothing else about trading. I didn't learn anything new here, and would not buy if I could do it again.

However, if you are completely new to trading, then this is a solid pickup.

Hard to listen twice

The book has more tips than necessary, youll have to go through a lot of fluff to pick out the few gems worth implementing. The narrarator was also not my favorite and mostly ruined the audio book for me. Better to get a hard copy and take notes on the parts of the book most relevant to you.

A must read for traders of all levels

What did you like most about The Daily Trading Coach: 101 Lessons for Becoming Your Own Trading Psychologist?

The wisdom in this books are boat loaded. It is a result of Dr. Steenbarger's many decades of experience in coach and mentoring traders. Can't say enough about the quality of the content.

What did you like best about this story?

The book has been laid out different types of methods in different charpters. For example one chapter for Psycho dynamic, one for cognitive pattern, one for behavioral pattern

Have you listened to any of Joel Pierson’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Joel has done a great job in presenting the material. Especially in the second to the last chapter, he tried to mimic the tone or accent of the various traders interviewed in that part.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last chapter about being an artist of your life and never settle for mediocre.

Any additional comments?

Audible can you please make an audible version of Dr. Steenbarger's new book, Trading Psychology 2.0. I think that one would be a great sell as well!

Chapters should be titled

Brilliant self help book but all chapters should be titled. As a book designed to be read in parts or continually this is virtually impossible in this format. A paper copy is much more useful!!

Great narration and text/

Useful lessons

Essential reading for both introductory and mid level traders. Learning to be your own trading coach is crucial for many traders who are not part of a larger trading community.

Good but too long

60% good chapters. Unfortunately, many indifferent chapters. Sometimes felt like quantity over quality. Book could have been half as long and still good.

A must read, must have for every trader.

There are many books on trading, most of them about how to start it. But this book helps you to course correct, find your trading problems, fix them and stay on track to success.
A true coach shows you the pitfalls and takes your hand and lead you to get out and overcome it. That's what this book does. Every time I get frustrated, lose my steam, make a terrible mistake, lose money or,,, this book has something to offer.
I have many books on trading, but Dr. Steenbarger's books are always the true gold among them.
Thanks Brett for such gifts of knowledge you gave me.
