Publisher's Summary

Fire and water don't mix.

Sophia: I'm Sophia Henley, your typical college freshman. I never expected a lion to be stalking me, nor for fire to come shooting out of my hands to protect my sister. Next thing I know, a drop-dead gorgeous guy shows up on my doorstep to sweep me away to a magical school, where I'll learn to control my element and bond with a powerful creature called a Familiar.

I don't believe I'm the savior of an ancient tribe, or the missing piece of a prophecy that's more myth than reality. Worst of all, I'm forced to enter the Elemental Cup, where I'll either earn my place in this society...or die trying.

Liam: The night I met Sophia, I didn't think we'd form an undeniable connection. But I'm from the Water tribe, and she's fire. I'm forced to push her away even as I'm falling for her.

I lost everything, yet Sophia makes me whole again. Our world is fixed on keeping us apart, but we're in this tournament together. We have to keep each other alive at any cost - or I'll give my life for hers.

It's pretty clear. If I continue to play with fire, I'm going to get burned.

Who is the market for this book?

I enjoyed this book up until the characters started using foul language and there were sexual situations. The book was fine without the gratuitous sex. I am reading the second book and look forward to how this next book turns out.

A Fiery Start for the Fire Girl and Water Boy

To be honest, this audiobook was the first Iheard about this serie when Iwent looking or some magic serie. So this one got my attention. Here's my thoughts!

I absolutely love the storyline where Sophia didn't know where she was raised by the Hemley family. Jennifer was aperfect person to narrate Sophia's point of views of the book. The emotion, the excitement, sorrows. Sophia has battled with who she is supposed to be versus who she wants to be. Esis, her familiar is absolutely adorable and I totally want one! <3 <3 <3

LIam, having a disability with water power makes it a perfect character for Sophia to get to know and love. Him losing his familiar and still live. What a feast! Graham, he's a perfect narrator to be Liam. Who's an alpha male who want to be able to help everyone but struggle to be the leader he is meant to be.

I also love Jonah and Emigene! Jonah being a gay jock with a big heart and his familiar, Squeak. Emigene being a book nerd who struggles with her quirks and her vixen fox familiar, Sassy.

The educationsthey all go through, lesson they endure for the Elemental Cup. Who will live or die?

If you love a magical world filled with wonder, this is a great audio to listen to and enoy your day ! <3 <3

Adult science fiction

I’m a sucker for front cover pictures. Of course I read the summary as well before I bought it but Even after that I assumed this was a teenagers book which I’m totally fine with. Holy jeez no. Profanity and adult audio. But other than that I really enjoyed it enough to immediately buy the next book. I love the idea that there is something else out there more exciting than humans and our boring lives. There are times I struggled to picture some of the magical creatures in this book to the point that it sounded a bit cartoonish but it did not ruin it for me. Worth the listen. Just don’t have it blaring with young ears around.

I loved this

I read this story before I listened to it and I loved it so much that I decided to give the audiobook a try. I loved the story-line but I did feel as if it was a bit slow and Sophia seemed to be more whiny when I listened to the story. The narrators for each character had me picturing the characters and I could match the voice with the mental picture of the characters that I had better than when I read the book itself. The narrators were the perfect match for Sophia and Liam.

Tried but I can’t finish. Super painful XP!

The concept was great, execution not so much. I hate stories where the MC is super whinny, weak and clueless. This story takes freaking first place in those categories. It was painful to listen to and I don’t believe I will finish it because the MC, Sophia was killing my ears and nerves. As the story went on, the worst she got with the crying and whinning. Over time, people are suppose to progress, learn, grow but this band of misfits, Omg they pissed me off and drove me crazy. The only bright spots were the familiars especially Essus. For me, the story is over can't complete this one.

Great start to the series.

I really enjoyed this audiobook version of The Fire Prophesy. It is well written with plenty of intrigue and forbidden attraction. Some of the familiars are real show stealers and added humour to what is actually a pretty dark tale.
The narration is really well done and the characters voices were recognizable. The mood of each moment was acted well and added so much to the story. I look forward to starting the next book in this intriguing series.
