About this listen

Bennett James has built his career at being the best, on and off the ice, and now it's come back to bite him. The media has turned against him, and with a near career-ending injury, he needs to clean up his act and prove that he's serious about the game. For Bennett, working with his old coach at his alma mater feels like a step back, but it might be just what he needs.

Grace Wentworth has always been the good girl, and she's tired of that stigma. She wants to prove that she can get down and dirty with the best of them. The problem? She doesn't know how.

Bennett will teach the good girl how to be bad, if she pretends to be his goody-two-shoes girlfriend in front of the media. But what happens when the game becomes real?

Honestly, I loved the vibe of this book so much, and I was all set to give it four (or even more) stars. But one thing really irked me, and that’s why I ended up at 3.5 stars.

The main characters had great chemistry, and their instant attraction felt natural. From the FMC trusting the MMC right from their first meeting to their fake-dating-turned-real romance, everything was swoony and fun. I even liked how many moments were logical and not filled with unnecessary drama.

But what really got to me was how the FMC suddenly didn’t trust the MMC later on. She believed in him so easily at first, even without knowing much about him, yet when it truly mattered, she doubted him just like everyone else. I get that it was needed for the story’s conflict, but it just didn’t make sense to me... And that part really bothered me.

Other than that, the book was sweet, the chemistry was on point, and I loved the whole bad boy–good girl dynamic. Also, Elle, the roommate, was such a standout character!

If you enjoy sports romances with instant attraction and a swoony, heartfelt storyline, The Game Plan might just be the perfect pick for you!
