Strike One: My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk.

Not cool, Mom.

I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy because I couldn’t make Theo work.

Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself. There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot.

Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well. And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect.

That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching-band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams

 Everything is perfect.

That is, until Troy takes a good look at her.

I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game.

I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening, and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right.

GLAD I KEPT LISTENING

I almost stopped listening because a narrator’s voice means a lot, for both the male and female character. I kept going and I’m so glad I did. I fell in love with Laney and Theo melted my heart for him. I got why his voice sounded like that. He wasn’t the rugged brooding type. He was the underdog so-to-speak. It was a great story. All the cute feels. As they say “Never judge a book by its narrator!” Lol Kate Stewart is in the top 10. Love her and love how she always finds a way to take you there. #underdogsareHOTtoo

Kept me interested

This book is okay. Laney, the lead female, is amazing. I love her character and her narrator. Theo, however, I cannot stand. He is written like a whiny, fedora-wearing, “friend zoned,” holier than thou, self-pitying douche. He even at one point uses the phrase “nice guys finish last.” The narrator was just as frustrating as the character. He puts emphasis on weird parts of sentences. I had to increase listening speed just to get through it. Laney was the redemption for this book. Strong willed and well rounded. A truly three dimensional character. She deserved better than Theo, but I appreciate the sentiment of a classic love story.

Bad narrator

I could not get past the country accent of the narrator. Really wanted to finish the book but lost interest because of that.

Boring!

Tengo problemas con la voz de ella, se siente como si fuera un robot en todo el libro me lo hizo más miserable de lo que fue. El libro en general está blah, no lo recomiendo, no gasten su dinero.

Sweet Romance

This was a sweet romantic story, I really enjoyed the narrator of Theo and thought he brought him to life. I did not enjoy the narrator for Laney, she felt very robotic and forced, did not possess what I felt the characteristics of Laney. I did skim through her chapters quicker.

omg, so good!

Such excellent feel good book! Amazing!

Loved every bit of it except the "big conflict" at the end. I saw it coming, but still it felt a bit off, but it just might be me.

Loved it

This pair is so entertaining. Theo is all off scorned man and is so relatable while Laney is one hell of a strong headed driven hilarious woman. I laughed so hard while reading this book and felt so much as their friendship grew and blossomed into a relationship with such a strong base that even as things went belly up they still could find their way back to each other. The way Kate Stewart weaves the growth of these two as they question their character and mould into people who break but are strong to fix themselves.
