The former God Apollo is having a pretty rough time of it. Well, for one thing, he's called Lester. But being an awkward mortal teenager is the least of his worries. Though he and his friends (some of them) have emerged from the Burning Maze, they still have a triumvirate to defeat, oracles to rescue and prophecies to decipher so that the world may be saved, and Lester can become Apollo once again. But right now, Caligula is sailing to San Francisco to deal with Camp Jupiter personally, and they have to get their first. Or risk its destruction.....

Though the Greek and Roman crew members of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. Publisher's Summary
Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of The Hidden Oracle: The Trials of Apollo, Book One, by Rick Riordan, read by Robbie Daymond.
How do you punish an immortal?
By making him human.
After angering his father, Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disorientated, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy.
Now, without his godly powers, the 4,000-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus' favour. But Apollo has many enemies - gods, monsters and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed.
Apollo needs help, and he can think of only one place to go: an enclave of modern demigods known as Camp Half-Blood.

It's great, but....
Since I was a little girl I became interested in mythology, and Rick Riordan's books rescue that passion in me. It turns out that this new series of books seemed unattractive to me. The main character is the god Apollo, who was punished by Zeus (reason not explained), and is on earth without any divine power. That wouldn't be a problem if he wasn't so self-centered and immature. That doesn't fit with a god ... Okay, by the end of the book Apollo is a little more bearable, but even so, he's a very boring and spoiled teenager. He could have a little more wisdom, couldn't he? Although I was excited to get to know this new series, now I’m not that interested in continuing. These are books that will stay for another time. I will not abandon the books, but this first adventure of the god Apollo did not delight me, like the other books by this author.

Why did I wait so long to read this book!?
Finally finished reading the first book in the Apollo series by uncle Rick and it did not disappoint! Familiar characters from the Olympus series are welcoming and new faces arrive that bring the story to live and bring you back to Camp Half Blood. I will be starting on the next one as soon as I have written this review. I guees this series could be read as a stand-alone but there a few referance to the the last two that could get confusing, so I would recomand that one should read the Olympians series and the Heros of Olympis before diving into this one!

As awesome as Apollo (that's what he says, anyway)
What did you like most about The Hidden Oracle?
Omgs where do I start...everything?
It wasn't just a new story. It was THE story we all have been waiting for even if we didn't do it consciously.
This book, Apollo, the conflict... is the answers to things we since Lightning Thief.
Reading (or hearing, in this case) this was a click! in everything and a mind-blowing experience thanks to the voice actor.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Actually I have to say it's Apollo.
He's the most complex character he's written in years.
Just put in a box the 4000 year-old experience and wisdom of Apollo (yes, he has wisdom) and the cocky attitude we were used to since The Titan's Curse and we have one of the most interesting characters a writer could make.
He was a god but know he realises he isn't anymore but something different.
Really fun and deep when needed.
What does Robbie Daymond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The emotion the readers experienced with The Lightning Thief.
Rick Riordan does it again with the first person pov, like the old series and Robbie Daymond is able to bring back all we know from that kind of pov's.
He just adds more intensity and emotion to the text and things Apollo feel and say and think.
He is able to bring Apollo and all his real feelings next to you (and well, he has a very suitable voice for this ex god not mentioning the way he portrays Chiron. It's just unbelievable).
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This is a little bit spoilery so
MINOR SPOILERS:
That one time he sings trying to find and reach his companion in the Wood.
There you realise (and this is just the first book, more has to come) who Apollo really is, the deeps of this heart, etc.He is just focused in rescuing a girl and not in himself for once.
The Daphne and Zephyrus moment just made me all teary. No joke.
Any additional comments?
Omgs just buy this if you are able to.
It's a great experience after Heroes of Olympus and not regrettable at all (just make sure you read the whole series before this, because if you don't you're gonna be spoiled in the most hum silly way).
Robbie Daymond did a great job. We can say he knows what he was reading (more like narrating) about.
Makes this way better compared to someone who doesn't.

A new perspective
It's a great story, with an interesting plot, many great characters and fun events. Having it told out of the perspective of the human-turned God Apollo is at times difficult though, simply because of his persona and it gets tiring at times, though I would still definitely recommend this book.

was good
good book. but not amazing. the main character talked a lot about irrelevant content that just made the book feel like it could have been finished in 1 hr instead of 10
