Publisher's Summary

The Infinite World: ever-changing and ever growing. New nations and races rose and fell almost daily. New Classes were discovered, and old ways were lost.

Monsters and beasts roamed the earth and were slain by soldiers and adventurers who were, in turn, killed by stronger threats. Heroes and villains created new epics and were forgotten when their successors appeared. This was the way of the Infinite World.

Summoned into this chaotic place, a young boy with no name and no past must learn to survive. Bound to a master who doesn't care whether he lives or dies, he must become stronger. The question is: how? Do the people around him value him for who he is or merely for what he represents? The world holds endless possibilities, but only time will tell what the future holds for the boy.

This book contains some strong language that may not be suitable for younger listeners.

Almost, but not quite.

The writing is good. The narration is good. However the characters, world building, and overall sense of purpose is really lacking.

The biggest problem with this book is how 1 to 2 dimensional most of the characters are. And I say characters because the author at some point decided to follow 8-10 different characters without ever developing them. He (the author) just kind-of dumps you into the pov of a newly introduced character and makes you listen through a 30 minute battle. This normally is a good way to introduce a character IF you build on it. But that it, that's all you get... you get no further character development. Then repeat this with 8 other characters. What makes it worse, is you spend most of the time listening to these side character battle scene and vert little time with the MC.

The world building is mostly absent... not kuch to say there.

finally, there is no real purpose in this book. At first it seems like the purpose in this book is for the MC to get stronger, but then we barely follow the MC. It seems like the author tried to follow too many ideas at the same time.

Review

This audiobook isn’t for everyone. If you read the synopsis of the story the main character is a summons in a human body. In video games a summons is a useful tool, even a necessary one. But at the end of the day the main character is the slave. Without going into spoiler the character has unlimited potential. But instead of helping him grow to his full potential the side characters essentially limit is growth. Not just limit is growth but intentionally go out of the way to make him learn abilities that are useful to them!. Which makes the main character comes off as sad and pitiful. In truth this audiobook would’ve been much better if the main character was some sort of animal or beast that was summon. This audiobook started off with so much potential, but the main character just wants to be a useful pathetic tool!. Which does not make sense for someone with thought consciousness critical thinking the ability to learn and grow. Which is a problem for this audiobook. it’s not sure what it’s trying to be🤷‍♂️👎👎

Excellent LitRPG

The narration was as captivating as the story itself, you could really get into and feel the growth of the characters as you learned to hate or love them. Cant wait to understand the mysteries that might reveal itself in the second book.

Great book! look past some reviews

I’m about 9/10 through already. This book is, at least to me, a novel take on litrpg that is a breath of fresh air. It’s a mix of easy-listening and a new angle on the classic growth story. MC has tons of growth potential and I’m glad there are more books in the series already out. I’d bet I’ll be getting them too.

Initially, I avoided listening to this for a while because the reviews were weird. The first review I see on audible is the following:

“The MC ‘s story is how an awesome character can be pointlessly handicapped by annoying, useless, self-righteous female characters who think they own him. Oh yeah, and one literally does.”

I don’t think their review is accurate unless you are incredibly insecure in your masculinity/find all women annoying.

Someone ‘Owning him’ is part of the book’s premise.

Despite 1 star story is good

ok so the reason I gave 1 star for the story but still said it was good was simply because the author wrote in 2 blatantly stupid characters, his "best friend" and his "master" to hold the mc back. Not even gonna mention much else because again, good story I thought, just annoying because of annoyingly stupid characters

There it is, a brilliant gem!

Wow, an engaging LitRPG awaits you. The Charakters are worked out quite good but the story is the main focus.
The adventure begins with a refreshing twist regarding the mc and from there you will be weaved into the story with you curiousity as glue.
I also like the logic/reasoning behind decisions, which is never silly and always understandable, although I like deeper stories it would not fit the light hearted setting which is entertaining.
The narrator is good, too. Very neutral so for me as not nativ english speaker easy to understand.

Thoroughly enjoyed it

Interesting, captivating and wonderful characters. Bought this as a roll of the dice wasn't sure if I'd like it. Thoroughly glad I bought it, I am now on book 2 and book 3 is already paid for and download. Great work with the choice of narrator/s and the visuals created through their talented presentation of the story.

a truly great litrpg

the MC gets a unique entry into the world and you really get to like him fast , the level progress is a good mix of powerspikes and slow progress. and you sometimes get side characters perspectives, but they are there to enhance the MC perspective. I really recommend this litrpg. now of to listening to the next book!

Totally different from my usual but really enjoyed

Not my usual choice as it sounded more lije a computor game story. But it surprised me a different spin on the fantasy genre but still absoding story and characters. Would recommend this especially to readers looking for something a bit different.

Enjoyable but maybe not for everyone

As the title says, I really enjoyed this book but admit that it probably isn't for everyone.

I would be forced to classify it as a niche market for the series but if you like role-playing games, DnD etc and like books, you would most likely like this.
Without going too much into the story - as in, the very, very start of the book - you follow a group of adventurers as they complete a dungeon, defeating the boss and earning rewards. They gain EXP that they use to level up and upgrade their base stats: Stength, Agility, Intelligence etc.

If I could compare to any other media, I would say that it is similar to the animes Sword Art Online (Though I haven't watched it) or BOFURI: I Don't Want To Get Hurt (watched a little bit of) but in novel form, in the sense it follows the characters as they choose their classes and complete tasks to upgrade their skills etc.

For anyone who likes any/all of the things I've listed, I would strongly recommend the series. For others, if you're go to genre is fantasy, give it a listen and see what you think. It's free so you've got nothing to lose. I enjoyed it and have since bought credits to spend on the next couple books.

Another LitRPG Winner

Despite not having litrpg or gamelit anywhere in the title, this book very firmly falls within the genre. And ooh boy is it good.

The start reminded me very strongly of the very excellent book 'Threadbare' - the MC is a summons who is new to the world, naïve to it's dangers, and must learn it's ropes. After the first few chapters though it forges its own path.

Well written, the book is perfect for audio - great narrator, not too many stats (but enough) and a fun story. It moves a little slow in parts, tending to not progress anywhere fast (the second part of the book is basically just one huge dungeon crawl), but that's not necessarily a bad thing as long as you're aware of it.

This is one series that I'll definitely be following. Highly recommended.

Outstanding

This book contains some of the best characterisation and world building I have read in this genre. I cannot recommend this book enough. LitRPG fans will absolutely love this. The first few hours are a bit slow, but if you can make it to where the story wants you to be, you will find it very difficult to put this book down.

Totally Enjoyable

The rest of my family enjoyed this as a print book.
Hearing me chuckle as Terrsa swore her way through the lands made them re think their opinions of her as a character. The narrator was excellent at his character development and his voice work was very enjoyable.

I really didn’t have much hope for this book especially after reading the first hour of the book. If you can get through the first hour and a half of the book it gets really good.

okay at the start but unsatisfying at the end

the world building is very detailed, thats good. but theres a lot of fat/fillers in the story and unnecessary scenes and fights that feels drowning.

the first book feels unsatisfying and plots dont really connect well. i think they made it like this so you buy the next one. the 2nd book connects some of the plot. but as a whole book, it feels like just half of what it should really be.

If you like the genre, it's very well written.

I could write lot about what I liked, but I've given it 5 stars across the board, so infer what you will from that.

There was one moment that I want to talk about and I'm sorry it's a negative. There is a point where an adult is complaining that the next generation acts badly and is clueless. The next generation is clueless because all the adults have intentionally withheld information from the youth. This annoyed me to no end, as the next generation was acting to the best of their ability with the information to hand. They could make better decisions if the adult hadn't intentionally misinformed them.

I assume it's a point that will be further explored in the next books, but as written in this one, it comes off a comceted and short sighted. If you've been manipulating a whole generation, you have no right to get angery at them for acting according to the information you've provided.

Anyway, I'll be reading the second book, but this had to be said, because everything else in this book is well written. All that would have been needed to change that moment is a line similar to "To keep the kingdom running, we withheld information critical to level, and only reveal these truth's to the worthy, but dam does it make me angery watching you lot running around making decisions on your vanity." It would have completely changed the tone of an important moment from comceted old man something more meaningful.

Now on to the next one.
