Publisher's Summary

1995, London. When Sir James Harrison, one the greatest actors of his generation, passes away at the age of 95 he leaves behind not just a heartbroken family but also a secret so shocking, so devastating that it could rock the English establishment to its core.

Joanna Haslam is an ambitious young journalist assigned to cover the legendary actor's funeral. The great and the good of the celebrity world are there. But Joanna stumbles on something dark beneath the glamour: the mention of a letter James Harrison has left behind, the contents of which others have been desperate to conceal for over 70 years.

As she peels back the veil of lies that has shrouded the secret, she realizes that there are other forces attempting to prevent her from discovering the truth. And they'll stop at nothing to reach the letter before she does.

Very Unbeleiveable

Story was long and so far fetched it reminded me of a fantasy novel. I love the 7 sisters series which is why I chose this book, big mistake, no were near the writing or story telling.

I don't need the story to be particularly relatable, but this was to out there.

Very disappointed.

Bit too much going on.

First let me say the author did a great job of working the separate stories that will slowly roll into one. However a bit too slowly. By the time I started to care for a character or couple something would go very wrong so the whole plot became too much and would just drag on till the end. Camilla Rockley did a wonderful job with the narration.

Fantastic!

I would give this book a “10” if I could!!!! It will ruin me for a while because all books will not be able to live up to this performance and brilliant writing!

Get this Book Right This Minute!

What an entertaining listen! Everything I could hope for in a book: romance, suspense, royalty, great characterizations, detailed settings, excellent narration, and skilled writing. Lucinda Riley really knows how to develop a story and tie multiple threads together. AIthough I love all of Lucinda Riley's books, I think this is my favorite. This is a great long saga of a book, which I prefer, and it grabbed my attention from the very beginning and never let it go.

My only criticism is that there is always a cup of tea being made. Seriously, I know this is England, but there is A LOT of tea mentioned. Prepare to buy some PG Tips or Harney and Sons to accompany your listening experience.

Sweet and thrilling

Loved this story. It was a little long in places but had many twists and turns. I just downloaded another book from this author based on how much I like this one. Loved the British narrator.

This would make a great movie!

This book was wonderful; the story complexed , with very well developed characters. The crowning glory was the excellent narrator.

I will be listening to more work by this author.

Well done!

Wonderful fun listen!

If you like a book full of intrigue, interesting characters and good narration, this one’s for you. I couldn’t put it down. Full of intrigue. Having seen a number of documentaries about the British monarchy, I also believe it’s plausible. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was surprised. Romance without being tawdry added sparkle to its enthralling plot. Great ending, too. Riley is a must follow for her inventive fiction.

Ridiculous

Love Lucinda Riley’s Light behind the Window, thought this would be good...totally disappointed, ridiculous plot that went on forever and ever..may be me at the moment but wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

Good Performance / Ludicrous Story

Very disappointed by the story - can only presume it was a very early novel by Lucinda Riley - don’t waste your money!

Waste of my time

Made it to the conclusion- but not worth it. Not really believable.
Narration was good though.

Brilliant!

As usual Lucinda Riley keeps me enthralled until the very end. I couldn’t stop listening to this book until it was finished. Although it is very different to her other books it was no less enthralling.
I loved the twists and turns of the plot and the surprises which don’t stop until the very end.

Be prepared for no sleep...riveting book

This is a wonderfully written book that keeps you spell bound until the last page. The author as always has done research that makes the book very believable. The threads of characters and stories that weave throughout the book make it one of those that you just can't stop listening to! A great read!

Great story!

Very well written & performed, this story had me hooked right until the denouement at the very end. Surprising twists & shocks keeps the suspense going as the story built up. Highly recommend if you like a love story with a difference.

UN-BELIEVABLE

This had got to be one of the worst books I ever bought... I must have been completely insane buying it. I can only imagine I did it to complete a 2 for 1 deal.
It was the most predicable tosh, What twists and turns???? I mean really?? the other reviewers who rated this were obviously Mills and Boon fanatics Barbara Cartland at her very very worst.
The only thing that amused me was the royal relationships and MI5......... their pathetic belief that the royals had to be protected from scandal at any cost..... WHY??? .So what's changed eh??
Why didn't I ask for a refund? Didn't want to push my luck and do it too often, and to my shame I listened to it all..
I hope the narrator was well paid it must have been dreadful having to try and make it sound as though she actually gave a stuff..
Please don't waste your money or even worse a credit..it really is complete tripe

Meh, fall in love in five minutes. . .

When characters declare undying love within a ‘few pages’ then the author loses me. While this might work with a young audience it just doesn’t in a supposedly mature relationship.
Then I asked myself could the plot ring true? I wasn’t convinced so I just found the book a bit ho hum.
The narration was good but the material ordinary.
This book wasn’t for me.
