About this listen
Everyone believes that Lenora Hope is a mass murderer.
When the Hope family was massacred decades ago, she was the only one left after that tragic night.
Mute, paralysed and confined to a wheelchair, Lenora has never been able to tell her side of the story.
Until her new live-in caregiver Kit brings her a typewriter.
And with one working finger Lenora begins to type:

Critic Reviews
A complex mystery thriller. Sager writes modern gothic very well and there's bags of atmosphere in this book
An unexpected thriller coaster ride.

Kit is a caregiver but after an accident with a patient she is forced to work for an elderly, paralyzed & mute patient at a decaying mansion- Hope's end. The patient in question was publicly held responsible for 3 killings in 1929. And, though she is never prosecuted, everyone is sure she had killed her father, mother and sister.
Reaction-This does surprised me..a lot. Because from the very start I was sure where this was going but it turned out that I could only deduce 30%. I was too caught up in the red-herrings and forgot to uncover the brilliant plot. As a seasonal mystery/thriller reader, I dont judge a book's value by the quality of the 'twist in the end'. But, I do love it when I am unable to guess it and I know the author has given some hints, so I should have guessed it. So, this is definitely a worthy read for its mystery plot and an awesome execution.
Worth the read.
