  • Summary

  • Audible presents The Opposite of Love, an Audible Original. Dheeman, a travel influencer, lives an enviable life full of paid-for travel and every luxury one can dream about. Amal, on the other hand, has just about scraped enough money for her first international flight. When the two of them meet on a long-haul flight to the US, they are immediately drawn to each other despite their difference. Over the air miles they rack up, secrets start to stumble out. It turns out their meeting wasn't accidental but orchestrated. Their pasts are intertwined, and while one's looking for redemption, the other's looking for revenge. Falling in love doesn't figure on their list, but when has it ever?

Loved the philosophy more than the story

Whomever played 'Amal' .. awesome job. The philosophy presented in the story I think actually is the driving factor .. at least for me .. this is my first audio book as well .. will surely checkout more. 👌

AGAIN DURJOY PROVED WHY HE IS MY FAVOURITE WRITER

This book is just ♡
Honestly I'm at lost of words at how amazing this book is! Like I've never been an audiobook fan but I guess I'm gonna listen to so many more after this.
About the story, it just gripped me so badly, I just can't bring myself to gather words to explain how I feel. All the scenes sound so good and it just makes me feel so....idk mixed, emotional, vulnerable, excited, all at the same time.
Totally worth the time😭👍🏻
Special kudos to the narrators, I loved how they voiced it all so amazingly, they sou d so natural, as if its not the characters but them who went through it all, totally loved it!❤

magical listening experience

I just completed listening, this is my first listening experience and it was good. I liked the narration but I was disappointed about the voices may be because it was my first audio book. the story line was good and the flow was easy to understand as the story moved from one to next chapter. I really liked the style of the story writing and enjoyed it. the story was about really really good about people, how they have experienced their life, their decisions, their perspectives, and emotions everything was good. Durjoy datta sir you really did a good job. i am expecting mire good books from you in the future as well.

Loved the essence of life's tiniest subtleties!

I adored how the narrative could be related to even the smallest details of life, which kept me interested the entire time. I was listening to this story while taking a 24-hour train ride to Mumbai, which was an entirely other experience. All of the emotions you stated struck a chord with me and captured my attention. Whether it was sense of loss, a different perspective about an influencer, calming our anxious thoughts, comparing God relation to our grandparents, etc. Every circumstance you discussed was so honest, I could sense the drama.
One flaw I saw was that occasionally, when the narrative abruptly switches to dialogue, there is a mismatch/disconnect that could be caused by the voice tone not being appropriate for the situation and at times I felt the background noise used to describe the location/situation is upsetting and unnecessary.
Lastly, thank you for making my travel time so engaging and beautiful!

An enjoyable read

This is my first ever audio book. I started listening as I take long walks and reading is my passion.
I must say this was the right pick for me as I generally enjoy all Durjoy’s books especially the humorous bits.
Coming to this story, this has a kind of fantasy touch (as I live travelling and am yet to travel abroad) what with Dheeman getting free air tickets to anywhere he wants to travel with two airlines and being so outgoing etc. When we finally encounter why he got such a privilege we start to think no one would want this kind of privilege.
Amal is a sweet girl who can touch a cord with each one of us. Her introvert nature, love for food and self consciousness makes us relate to her easily.
Alex gives that Katrina vibe from ZNMD movie. Live your life no matter what!
D and A once again makes a great couple 😀
Overall I feel I picked the right book for my first audio experience 😀

I mean like, why is this not a paperback?

Durjoy and his stories are always great, with every passing one I fall in more love. The way the story began and ended kept me glued. I loved the Zara reference, the society uncle reference and how the three people and their stories collided and the different shades of grief depicted, I hope this will make people little less judgey and treat other with kindness. Liked Dheeman's character more and the realisation he had at the end was on point. Couldn't have had a better ending. Thanks for this Durjoy❤️ Worth the time and attention given...first one that I finished in a single sitting eva. Hopefully many more to go!

Modern, Relatable, Durjoishly-love-like-enjoyable!

First of all hats off to Pallavi Bharti and Suyash Barve!
I have been reading Durjoy for so long, so let's talk about narrators first, Durjoy will wait! They did such amazing work that hearing them being narrated is beautiful. I love it and getting an audible subscription was the best investment. Technically got 2 months of free sub from Cred :’)

Now the story and writer, I loved the fact that it kept me hooked. After a very long time, something I started reading rather I would say started listening and fully completed it. The story was as simple, as pretty, and as good as it can be, I literally felt the emotions of the situation in narration. With his words and writing, That's what Durjoy does best, always makes you feel the emotion. It makes you feel so relatable to the character and its story.
I strongly recommend it and would humbly request you to give it a try. If you're new to Audiobook have some patience, listen to 2-3 episodes and I promise you won't regret it!

Got me hooked

What a book! I have always tried listening to audiobooks but always failed because of not been able to concentrate or losing attention while listening to a chapter. This is the first audiobook I have finished and I am hooked now. It is so beautifully narrated and it actually helps you imagine the situation what the characters are going through. Can't wait to listen to more audiobooks. The audible app could make some changes like giving the option of subtitles on screen. The story the characters everything is so relatable that if feels like eating dal chawal. There is so much comfort and you want to keep listening despite it being so predictable in so many places. For next audiobook I would love to listen to the story in Durjoy's voice. - Sakshi Agrawal

1st Audiobook I read -Shweta Tewari

So here I read my 1st Audiobook, that is of Durjoy Datta author whose all book I read during my journey in local train of Mumbai n buses…he creates the magic with Love story which makes you fall in love every time. But these 4yrs of pregnancy and delivery has not given me single time to read any books or do anything for me, but this time it was different I am in Durjoys living city(Dubai) coincidentally moved here 8months back with 4yr old managing her all alone.
And one day saw insta Apple iPod gift and thought of read what is Audiobook.
And to surprise I started this in office, working n listening…1st episode little clueless what it is, felt like we should tell people character name n relation to be little clear. And than episodes on episodes its so engrossing and I really loved the love story as usual and this time its “Heart wrenching” and different story which shows vulnerable side of life.
Best thing is how the author describes each moment to make you feel you are witnessing same, its truly an experience. After this audiobook I was surprised this is really good way, when I am sitting on my desk and listening I am not in office,I feel I am somewhere else which I felt is the best thing Durjoy has done.
If book takes you to different world it is really good book and I am really happy that I heard this book,1st of my experience which I wont forget.
Beautifully written and narrated!!
Few words are like melting Royce,it really gave me feeling of chocolate melting in my mouth. And trembling voice of Amaal describing to Alex is truly heart-wrenching.
Felt touched with story♥️👏🏻Kudos

Thanks
Shweta Tewari

Really Great, I do recommend

Wonderful cast, performance, heartbreakingly real emotions. Fresh. I love everything about this story but that it was written in about 30 unnumbered segments, and somehow keeps disconnecting, making it very difficult to find my most recent location. This would have been perfect in book format, so much easier to listen to. Perhaps this is a new writer. I will be looking for this writer, and hoping I can find more of their work with these amazing qualities. I haven't found a book of this caliber in so long. Thank you for this amazing listen and introduction to this author and its' narrators. I pray there is more here on Audible by Durjoy Datta.

Interesting

I loved the fact that it kept me hooked in for a long time. Story was pretty good, I loved how the narration was, so many emotions were felt. That's what Durjoy does best anyway, always makes you feel the emotion he's trying to portray.
All in all, listen to it, you won't regret.
