it brings you to the now !

A very open , honest, humourous narrative by Swami Ramdas. One which will leave you wondering if this was a spiritual talk. Swami Ramdas takes you on a journey through all the worlds and yet leave you in the now !

Baba brings it...

Ram Dass is an amazing story teller. Any spiritual seeker is definitely going to want to hear what he has to say. I've listened to this about 10x now, and I hear something different each time that clicks. So when he says you hear what you hear when you're meant to hear it... It is absolutely true.

Those who know will understand

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would. To the normal waking person it may seem strange, but when accompanied by a mushroom or two you definitely get it.

What other book might you compare The Original Be Here Now Talks to and why?

There is no comparing this level of wisdom to anything. Ram Dass see's existence for what it is, and lays some heavy ideas on you.

Which scene was your favorite?

Every last second. Every ego shattering, beautiful sentence.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definately, though if you were to listen to it in one sitting, you may not absorb the amazing amount of wisdom he displays.

Any additional comments?

This was obviously made in the 60's or 70's when use of psychedelics were very popular. My normal consciousness couldn't quite grasp it, but after eating one special mushroom containing (censored) I fully understood everything he was trying to say, and it absolutely changed my life. It made me realize how silly the ego is. It's not as big as we think it is, and you don't have to get rid of it. The Ego serves a purpose in the physical world, however, nothing beyond that. It is when you get lost in the illusion of ego that you run into issues.

Great and terrible at the same time

Ram Dass is both incredibly wise and insightful and at the same time vain and manipulative - like his former collaborator, Tim Leary, it feels a bit like he is noveau-wise. I find Alan Watts to be more aware of himself and more fun to listen to, but this is worth a listen to get a sense of the origins of the west connecting with eastern spirituality.

Enjoyed it!

Quality of sound is a bit ugly but tolerable by being present with the audio.

Terrible Audio Quality

This recording is of such poor quality, I returned it after listening to about 2 minutes. It sounds like an amateur recorded it while listening to a lecture.

Terrible

Sound is awful, it is very difficult to relate, and oh so so repetitive! There are much better options for audio versions on this topic.

Interesting. Bad audio quality.

If they are going to charge, they could at least normalize the audio volume. It was incredibly quiet which resulted in my ears being blasted by gps directions since I was listening while driving.

You can tell at lot of his insights are drug fueled. Overall I found the message inspiring.

A perfect time capsule

This talk is a lovely window into his early teachings. It’s also quite focused on his ‘be here now’ mantra compared to many of his other lectures which are quite broad in scope. Highly recommended for existing fans to see how his thought process evolved over the years

Inaudible

Very bad copy. I understand the talks were recorded a while ago, but with today’s technology some sounds could have been toned down to isolate the voice of the speaker before selling the copy. Unfortunately, what is supposed to be a deep spiritual experience becomes a rather annoying struggle to focus on the main voice which gets lost among the sounds of moving chairs, people walking around and coughing. Really disappointing. Great story though.

Words can't explain what I got from this

There was a part in these talks where Ram Dass said something to the effect of "you come to the realisation that your not in fact the bus driver, but god having the experience of being a bus driver". I am a bus driver. I was driving while listening. It was a beautiful thing to hear at the time. Beyond trippy actually. Its like he knew I was listening

Where did the time go???

I absolutely loved this! The time flew right past me. My only problem is the audio quality isn’t the best, but that’s because it’s 50 years old. Still really good stuff here!

Amazing book

love how RAM Dass brings lightness to all of it, how he combined all levels of Creation right up to the beyond. Finały after many years of trying to comprehend this ladder towards inside I can say that I get it, and with his help I Am able to make it way simpler.
