Critic Reviews

"James McAvoy leads an all-star cast in narrating this magnificent audio adaptation of Neil Gaiman's iconic graphic novel series, The Sandman.... As listeners are swept up in a saga in which cats talk and nightmares walk, McAvoy's steady characterization reminds them that it’s all in a day's work for him. While the cast members are exquisite, special mention goes to the production staff. The sound effects are immersive, and there is a wonderful cinematic score. This audio drama is compelling. Listeners won’t be able to pause once they hit play." (AudioFile magazine)

it's fantastic!

The adaptation is very true to the original source. The dialogues are almost entirely the same as in the comics, while Neil Gaiman sets the scene of each panel through his narration.
This is a full cast adaptation, with a surreal background score that complements the story well.
in my opinion, the best experience is to be had by reading and listening simultaneously. A very unique and dreamy experience, that completely immerses you into it. However, the adaptation is good enough even if you are just listening.

Boring..!!

The only great thing about the book is its narration and dramatisation. The first part of the book is fantastic. It goes downhill from there on. I wasnt even i terested in listening to the third and final part.

For someone like Lord of Dreams, the story could and should be much powerful. All through he fights mere mortals who arent a match to him. Thoroughly disappointed that my curiosity and enthusiasm that existed during the beginning chapters slowly faded off.

Amazing Dramatisation. Incredible Voice Acting.

I've always enjoyed Neil Gaiman's writing and this dramatisation brings his writing to new life. James McAvoy is brilliant as Morpheus and Neil Gaiman's narration feels calming yet foreboding. Overall this was one of the best dramatisations I've heard in a long time.

The only downside in my opinion is the casting of Constantine. To me it'll always be Matt Ryan who I hear in my head. No one seems to come close to his portrayal of the character.

Too much background music for an Audible

Story goes from one extreme to another and somehow the linkages make sense. However it's the background music which is really annoying for an audio experience.

Maybe it's with the headphone or it would have been annoying without it.

Audiobooks is still experimental and unfortunately this one does not work.

Music And Performance.

Really like the background music and performance of all the voice artists. Also, the story is incredibly awesome 👍

Neil Gaiman -- Above All!!! 🙌🏻

People say that the graphic novel was better, but honestly speaking you don't need any visual reference image, at all..... because what Neil Gaiman has done is second to none...... he's literally the king of narrators.....
