About this listen
With the help of the robin, Mary finds the door to a secret garden, neglected and hidden for years. When she decides to restore the garden in secret, the story becomes a charming journey into the places of the heart, where faith restores health, flowers refresh the spirit, and the magic of the garden, coming to life anew, brings health to Colin - and to Mary, happiness.

"It will rapt most children away, for after fifty years, its spell is still as strong; a blend of power, beauty, vivid interest and honest goodness. Yes, if this is magic, it is good magic." ( New York Times Book Review)
It helps you see the magic in the mundane. In the writing of Frances Burnett you discover the Forbidden Forest of Hogwarts in a rose garden. Leaves and flowers bursting forth in the spring, the blue sky after the rain, the warmth of the morning sun, the wind blowing on the face, friendship and love; What are these, if not magic. A great respite from all the gloom and doom around us

She has an excellent prose style, the descriptions and language is exceptional. The genre is like a midway melt between Lewis Caroll and Hans Christian Anderson
The plot, though of a children's story,
keeps you absorbed
The rendition by Johanna Ward is good, the best parts being the ones where she takes on the Yorkshire accent
No regrets for grownups there!
A children's book keeps grown ups glued too
