About this listen
Editorial Reviews
When retired Wall Street Journal writer Tom Herman introduces economist Paul Krugman to the 92nd Street Y in 2005, he warns the audience that, "If you've come here this evening looking for a warm and reassuring outlook for America, you're in the wrong room". It is true that Krugman was extremely unhappy with the Bush Administration's "cronyism and corruption" at the time of this program, which was recorded about a month after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Krugman addresses the "irresponsible" and "dishonest" fiscal policy of the nation, then goes on to outline ways in which the country can prevail.
