The second book in the Bridgerton series.

This time the gossip columnists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn't just decided to marry; he's also chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended's older sister, Kate Sheffield: the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom.

Brilliant and Witty

Rosalyn Landor is one of my favourite narrators. She is brilliant in bringing the characters to life. You know when it's a good book when you don't want it to end.

Funny and a good listen

Having watched the first season if the Netflix Bridgerton (and having listened to book 4), I purchased this one, book 2. I listened to the whole book in two sittings, and enjoyed it thoroughly. It made me laugh aloud in places too. I recommend it if you like the genre.

Please get a different narrator!

I have read one of these before and enjoyed it for what it is. I was really disappointed with the audio book version. The narrator is absolutely awful. I'll stick to kindle versions in future

My favorite among the Bridgertons

Let us not kid ourselves we are not reading The Bridgetons in the search of the most impecable piece of literature. Nevertheless these series have the best recipe for a nice comfy holiday read. "The Viscount who loved me" is my favorite. It is sweet, funny, romantic and angsty. But mostly is feels the most bubbly from all of novels of the series I had the chance to read. If they will decide to turn this novel into a second season of The Bridgetons adaptation I will be incredibly happy.

Loved it

Great escapism bought as a follow up to the Netflix series . I’ve always loved historical romance and this didn’t disappoint. Nice clean fun not too raunchy but I have to say it makes me so glad times have changed especially for women .

Terrible literature.

Awful, awful, awful and mind numbingly boring. As a massive Jane Austen fan, I thought this novel might be entertaining. How wrong I was... the characters are so 2 dimensional and the endless boring sex scenes !

4 stars

I enjoyed this a whole lot. I now this series is getting a lot more attention now thanks to the TV show, and I feel like the series (or what I've read of it) holds up more than a lot of other stories of the time, even regarding "the scene" in book 1. But with regards to TVWLM, I didn't know what to expect from Kate. And as it turns out I liked her a LOT. Anthony...I was hesitant because..he just didn't endear himself to me as quickly as I would like. In saying that...I did enjoy their romance a lot and I loved the banter between Anthony and Kate a whole lot. I'm not going to take so long before I pick up another book in this series...I hope.

Bought this after watching Bridgerton on Netflix

This book was so predictable and a bit boring because everything that happened was so foreseeable. I do love a bit of romance but it needs to be more complex than this to be enjoyable for me. It's a simple book, I won't be reading more in the series. The voice actress who read this was fantastic however.

I loved it until they stopped fighting

As soon as they were married it became boring and dragging. Their expressing of feelings was clichéd and had me squirming. And the little peak of drama near the end was very unoriginal and annoyed me so much I thought about not finishing at all. On top of that I sorely missed the reason why Anthony was called a rogue. There was not a hint about it in his behavior nor past. Narration was great.

Badly written but good story

These books are so badly written, you can tell from the first chapter that the author is writing about a period that she knows little about. The text is littered with 'Americanisms' and inaccuracies so if you are seriously into your period novels then this will wear thin. All of the lead female characters are bimbo's and airheads despite the author continually telling us they are intelligent, which is incredibly disappointing from a female author. If you are any kind of feminist then these books are not for you. HOWEVER I'm a sucker for romance and I just can't stop buying them. That probably says more about me than about the books.
