Publisher's Summary

What did she see?

It's been 10 long months since Anna Fox last left her home. Ten months during which she has haunted the rooms of her old New York house like a ghost, lost in her memories, too terrified to step outside.

Anna's lifeline to the real world is her window, where she sits day after day, watching her neighbours. When the Russells move in, Anna is instantly drawn to them. A picture-perfect family of three, they are an echo of the life that was once hers.

But one evening, a frenzied scream rips across the silence, and Anna witnesses something no one was supposed to see. Now she must do everything she can to uncover the truth about what really happened. But even if she does, will anyone believe her? And can she even trust herself?

so boring

I could not complete this. the narrator is robotic and the book so super boring that I have to mentally prepare myself to listen to it.

Very slow narration but a very gripping story

The narration was extremely slow (reminded me of tragic stories like Where The Crawdads Sing) for a thriller. The sense of urgency that comes with thrillers was lost because of that. I had to listen to it at 1.5x to make it feel like a thriller.
The story itself was very gripping, the ending amazing. The parts about the mental health issues are very well written and likely to generate lot of empathy among the readers for people suffering from these conditions.
A good listen overall.

For fans of twisted psychological thrillers

Till the end I had it wrong. I was so sure I knew where it was going but the last twist really wasn't predictable. Unreliable narrator made it also really hard to make conjectures. There are several twist along the way and the last twist was definitely shook me. I have been listening to popular psychological thriller for a month now and this was my third and the best till now.
Female protagonist obsession with old psychological thriller Black and white movies made it more interesting and being them played in the background made it more creepy and incomprehensible. I enjoyed through and through highly recommend if you like twisted psychological thriller like gone girl, anxious people or shutter Island kind of stories.

Narrator did a really good job, i got shivers everytime she said "guess who". By the end I was so creeped out by that😭.

Loved loved loved it!

A good thriller after a long time...
Although it felt a bit dragged sometimes, the ending made it worth it.

Slow read but a very satisfyingly dark ending

To be very honest it took me way too long to finsh this book cause it did have ALOT of, what I consider useless info/descriptions of Anna's days & her surroundings. I don't enjoy or see the value in that when reading a psychological thriller. This kept making me loose my interest in the story but there were moments that really grabbed my attention and I'm glad I persisted cause the revalation of all the 'whys & what' were totally worth it. 🙌🏽 Its dark & twisted with really complicated people. All that good stuff ones looks in a psychological thriller.
Tip : I heard the book at 1.20x speed and it felt normal and made it bareable to get through alot of slow moving stuff. So would recommend trying that to finish the book. It will be worth it.
