Excellent

It's full cast play. I was expecting the book, but not complaining this is really good. Accent is easy to understand. This gave me the feel of the classic movie adaptation. There are no chapters in this audiobook. One track covers it all.

I really don’t like the sound effects

Actors are good, the story is OK. But I have very strong adverse feelings with the sound effects and noises. I much prefer a narrator.

Didn’t Realize This Was a Play

Maybe I didn’t read the description because I’m already familiar with this book, but this was like a radio play or something rather than an audio book. I was really disappointed in it. I got about halfway through.

Wonderful production with full cast

I have never read the original story or seen the musical, so I knew very little about it before listening to this production. When I saw it in the section for free audible books, I couldn’t resist downloading it and let me tell you, it was a very good decision. I love productions with full casts, but it is not always easy to find a good one. This one was a gem and the voice actors did a wonderful job. It’s so well directed that one gets the feeling of being right there with the characters and living all their adventures with them.

Nostalgia

This is nostalgic for me. It was one of the first books I’ve ever read. Listening to it was amazing. The voices chosen by audible were on point. I loved it. The story is basically what we all know by heart. A girl from Kansas that was swept to Oz by a tornado. But there were things I didn’t remember from the book that were mixed with the movie’s data, like the fact that her shoes aren’t red. Thank you audible for reviving this childhood memory.

I really loved this story!:)

What i disliked was that I’m only 8 and the was so much things about killing in it . What I did like was that Dorothy , scarecrow , todo, tin wood man, and loin became friends.

Best Adaptation

This book was absolutely fabulous I am a very big Baum collector I have heard very different versions of this but this is the best. straight away you are plunged into the action of this marvellous book this script of Paul Magrs brings new life to this classic the actors chosen fit the role perfectly a wonderful book sure to become a classic version.

An interesting and vivid adaptation

This adaptation of the great children’s classic has plenty of excitement. The performances are energetic and vivid and the sound effects are quite spectacular at times. While the storyline is broadly faithful to the original, there is a darker quality to this version. The portrayal of Dorothy in particular has an angry edge. Now this makes her character believable but certainly loses the gentleness in Baum’s novel. And generally the adaptation does not have the charm of the book. So I think this is aimed more at an older audience. In the end, this is a fine performance, an interesting take on the story, certainly worth hearing. but it does not eclipse the original work.

very enjoyable

just the thing for a wet and windy weekend. Dorothy had just a little snarck and wasn't too whiny. A clever brainless scarecrow is always worth a listen and a tin woodsman who is a bit full of himself but usually very helpful is just about bearable as he is quite comical in a dry way. The rest of the cast were good and I also liked the Queen of all the Mice, she was just brilliant. Also as I haven't read this story since my children were small, which was a long time ago now, it brought back some very fond memories for me. Thank you to Audible and the cast for those moments too.

Surprisingly messed up but otherwise good

Of course, I knew the story in a general sense but I was surprised listening to the story how messed up it is! Possibly adult eyes on a children’s story- they’re all very dark when you think about it- but yeesh.
